I'm a little surprised by this. I enjoy a cold cut combo or oven roasted chicken from Subway on occasion. The store I usually visit always seems to have fresh bread, so I think that's what really makes the difference for me.

Isn't it just a little funny that Subway spent years and who knows how much money on marketing to present their food as a healthy alternative, when here we are putting it on a fast food poll?

The only one of those that I've eaten at in the past 4 years is Subway. The rest are pretty awful, although McDonald's actually has decent coffee.

The only time I eat fast food is when I'm jammed for time or the kids come home late due to school/camp activities.

My least favorite is McDonalds and outside of a road trip, in which it was the only place for hundreds of miles, I've eaten there once since 2000 (ironically, another road trip), so I can't really count it as I won't even eat there. I've eaten at Burger King once in 20 years due to a road trip as well. I can't remember if it was good. All I can remember thinking is that the burgers were small and the old chicken sandwich, which used to be awesome in the 80's, was terrible.

Not listed is Chik Fil A, which I think it's completely disgusting. Dry, over cooked chicken with no flavor, boring waffle fries, way overpriced.

Now maybe, our local Chik Fil A isn't the norm. BeauWillie007 says Jack In the Box is "terrible" but in SoCal, it's the freshest, most consistent of all the fast food places. There's a Wendy's in Hollywood that sucks, yet the Wendy's in Burbank is always good and fresh.

I think the quality of most chain restaurants depend upon the store manager and district manager. Every chain receives food from the same exact supplier, so if Wendy's is great at one location but poor at another, it's the managmemt.

As far as the "best" fast food, El Pollo Loco takes the cake for me in SoCal. Fresh grilled chicken, salsa, sides, tortilla and ingredients. It's not really "fast" per se, as it generally takes 8-10 minutes (or longer) for an order to be completed but it's definitely very good.

I tried Popeyes's over in Burbank a few weeks ago and it was outstanding. But again, we waited 15 minutes for our food so I don't know if that qualifies as "fast".

Wendy's is the very definition of hit or miss. The Wendy's in Dodge City is fantastic, but when I ate at others across the nation (when I flew full time) it sucked out loud.

I rarely ate fast food even when I was my heaviest and now even less but I have always hated Subway. Their subs are disgusting pieces of garbage. Pre-cut cold cuts. Really?
Their bread also blows.

I guess I only eat there 1-2 times a year in Vegas. They knock it out of the park every time, and it's always loaded with people.

Ha ha. Myself and a coworker discussed this a week or so ago. Basically Subway sucks and while their moto is East Fresh its actually the least fresh and worse tasting of all the chain sandwich shops
