i'll watch casually while stuffing my face with beer and food.
no dog in this fight. Though, I suppose I'll lean more towards the Falcons.
I just hope it's a close game. If it's even looking like a dominating performance by either team by halftime, I'm sure as hell not staying up to watch 'just because" etc.

sad state of affairs. SB weekend, draft weekend, season opener weekend, all used to be events for me. All weekend long, and I'd plan my life around it.

Not so much anymore. sort of a bummer, but I can't get into it anymore like I used to.

How awesome would that be!

Pats lose,Brady gets hurt, Garoppolo's trade value crushed.

Halftime Lead: Patriots

MVP: Thomas "the ****ing GOAT" Brady

Predictions (bold or not so much):

Dion Lewis goes for over 100 total yards from scrimmage

Beasley is neutralized.

Things to look for: Can the Patriots run the ball at all? Against Atlanta's smaller but fast defense, if they can successfully power run with Blount breaking tackles, it will make for a long day for the Falcons.

The tackling differential. Patriots are about the best tackling team in the NFL, and usually minimize YAC. Atlanta about the worst, allowing too much YAC (and running for extra yards. Does that hold to form or not?

How do the Falcons RBs when flexed out or otherwise receiving the ball. If they can get isolations on Patriots LBs, it will make for a long day for the Pats.

Single most important thing -- Pats OLine vs. Falcons DLine. Where the Patriots control the offensive line of scrimmage, they pretty much always win. Playoff losses to Giants, Jets and Ravens all have one thing in common -- opponent's DLine pressures Brady heavily, especially up the middle. Pats OLine has been rock solid this year. Atlanta's DLine good but inconsistent. Who wins that battle in the trenches?
I just can not understand why this is'nt coached as much by other teams. It drives me crazy to see one of our guys not wrap up. JFC, they're pro's, tackle like one.

It's a BIG point of emphasis with Belichick. Other teams I think focus on speed, power, blah, blah, blah. Belichick will take all those things too, but not at the expense of tackling.

Quote:
“For me, I learned a long time ago, my dad told me this and Coach (Bill) Parcells told me this, that the most important thing on defense is getting 11 guys out there who can tackle,” Belichick said. “Defensively, your job is to get the guy with the ball on the ground. In the end, that’s your job, so all the other stuff is great, but if you can’t do that, then what do you really have?

“That’s not to minimize coverage skill. There’s a place for that, don’t get me wrong, but in the end, somebody has to get them down on the ground. I think that’s a critical component for me, for us, for any player on the defensive side of the ball, regardless of what position they play, but particularly in the secondary, where you can be higher on coverage skills, but if you’re willing to give up poor tackling for good coverage skills, eventually there’s going to be a problem there. Might be able to live with it, but eventually it’s going to be a problem.

“I put a high priority on it, we put a high priority on it in the organization in our defense. We practice it every single day. I don’t think there’s been a day that we haven’t worked on tackling this year or any other year. It’s the most fundamental, important thing for a defensive player to do well. That and defeat the blocks. Everybody is going to get blocked at some point, so defeating blocks and tackling, that’s the two most critical fundamentals that any defensive player needs. There’s not really much that goes above tackling for me.”

It's why guys like Ellis Hobbs and Asante Samuel were never going to be signed to big money, long term extensions. Very good in coverage, but tackling skills were not as good. Belichick LOVED Ty Law, and Malcolm Butler, who are willing to put their nose in there and get the guy (even a 230 lb. RB) down on the ground.

I am 100% certain that the Chiefs will not win this Super Bowl. I'd bet everything I own on it.

27-20 pats.

Falcons score first.

Pats lead by three at half.

Brady wins mvp and locks up the GOAT argument.

After the way they played in the Steelers game I haven't been in any mood to watch ****ing football. But the kick in the balls the Chiefs gave me is starting to wear off a bit. Besides, it's the last game of this season. August is a long ways off.

Patriots by at least 25.
In one of the most boring SB in history.

Most people will walk away thinking they watched a 7th grade B girls basketball game.
