Gronk has a punctured lung

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...unctured-lung/

May miss a couple weeks.

We need a few Pats losses, but with a cake schedule, it's looking like they should roll to the #1 seed.

Nope. I would rather play at New England in January. I never, ever, ever want to see the broncos win a meaningful game. Not for any reason.

Look, I'm all for hating on Denver. But playing in NE in January vs Arrowhead could be the difference between getting to a SB or not. I absolutely can't get on board with that line of thinking.

There's no way the Pats can win a game without one of their star players.

Right now, they're in the driver's seat with 3 teams in the AFCW targeting them for the #1 seed.

Patriots:
@ 49ers
@ Jets
Rams
Ravens
@ Broncos
Jets
@ Dolphins

Each AFCW team has a tougher final stretch... gotta hope that 2-3 of those teams can really give them fits. Patriots on the road the next two weeks is great, but I don't have much faith in either of those teams beating them.

Gronk is likely healthy for @ Denver, but we shall see. I don't know if I see 3 losses in their final 7 games though.

Maybe at Broncos. Maybe at Dolphins. Pats win their other games with the entire 2nd unit playing.

Jeez, could they not get a high school team scheduled or something? Eleven random CP members could beat most of those teams.

The Patriots have beaten great teams in huge games. Not doubting any of that. But man, what a cake schedule every year. Getting homefield makes all the difference. They are locked for 5-1 in the division at minimum almost every year.

I've had my lung collapse 7 times. They actually repair themselves very quickly once a chest tube is inserted. He may only be out a week. It is however one of the most painful things that can happen to a man.

So latest reports are chest injury but NOT a collapsed lung. People are saying it's "not serious" and he "might miss one game."

The fact that the Pats next game is at SF might factor in, with the long flight and all.

This shouldn't be news. The NFL schedule is brilliantly organized. 16 games, as follows:

1. 6 games against your division opponents

2. 4 games against all four teams in another division IN your conference, which rotates yearly.

3. 2 games against the same-seeded teams in the other divisions IN your conference other than the one you are playing against (step 2 above).

4. 4 games against all four teams in one division OUTSIDE of your conference, which rotates yearly.

Therefore every team in any given division in any givne year has 14 identical games. The other two are designed to give better teams harder schedules than the weaker teams, based on last year's finish.

Pats, like the rest of the AFC East this year, have NFC West and AFC North. Chiefs, like the rest of the AFC West, have the AFC South and the NFC South.

I certainly agree that the AFC West is much harder than the AFC East, but are you really complaining? You get the two scrubbiest scrub divisions in football. It's why the AFC West can and should put three teams in the AFC playoffs, and it's also why whoever wins the AFC West will definitely be in contention for a bye.

New latest is a "small" puncture of his lung. WTF?

Regardless, bottom line is everyone is suggesting it's a one-game-missed-at-most kind of thing.
