So.....On a whim

So was preparing for a typical weekend. Wife and I working around the house on Saturday daughter working at her job over the weekend, and son working on a college paper. Sunday watching football on TV with said son and wife.

Saturday wife gets call …. meeting has been moved up to Monday so she out of the picture this weekend, but the son emerges and said he got his paper done early. So son’s been busy at school and I’ve been busy with work, so haven't spent a lot of time together lately. So I ask if he wants to help me around the house. His response was not as enthusiastic as I would have hoped, but he agreed started raking leaves in the back yard.

While working we talk about school, and what not, his plans for the weekend, he had no real plans except for the paper he wrote. So then as usual we get to talking about the game this weekend against the Colts. Got to talking more than working and just enjoying ourselves. Then got to thinking how I have missed this interaction with my son.

Got a wild idea ……. 7 hours later…… Here we are.

Awesome road trip so far.

Maybe if the field looked like that, there would not have been so many injuries.

Good for you. I'm a fan of father/child (or mother/child, I suppose) trips when they're around that age. I've gone on several with my daughters and they've been real memory makers. I'm glad you saw a good game.

Actually all the fans we encountered where great. Walking around downtown with our jerseys before the game. I will say there was a lot of Chiefs red represented. We grabbed a bite downtown before the game and talked to a lot of Colt fans and those going to the game. Had a blast just shooting the breeze. They hate, I mean hate their coach and GM. If they would have been having a better year then who knows. But even in the stadium was talking to others in our section no ill will or crass words just some light hearted ribbing on both sides. Even got a couple to the chop at the end of the game.

Oh by the way if you are ever in Downtown Indianapolis.... Go to the Yard House by the stadium. Great food and a 122 beers on tap. Yes 122 on tap.

It was awesome and a long time coming. Even if the turf hates our players.

I must say this was an awesome trip. Evan if the Chiefs would not have won, it still would have been an awesome trip. Son will probably not get it till a few years down the road but the Chiefs game was secondary. (Still important mind you) Got to spend a lot of quality time with my son and see a Chief's vindication at Indianapolis. Doesn't get much better than that.

I thought the Indy fans were outstanding when we went out there.

Even when we were handing them their ass for 3 quarters, folks were cool about it. And when they came back, their fans were damn near apologetic.

I find that most people with 'asshole fans' stories are kinda assholes in their own right.

Never had a issue in Indy... My cousin went with his 2 kids and 3 other kids on Sunday, Sat in the lower bowl in his Brother in Law season tickets (Colts Fan).

Not one issue fully decked out in Chiefs gear. This is the first year we all didnt go to Chiefs@Indy in a while.

Never ever had one issue there.. Ive even met another CPer out there (GrandLama) he hung out at our tailgate with other Colts fans and no issues...

But yes "asshole fans" usually have issues with other "asshole fans".
