How good could Chris Jones be as a rookie?
In case you missed it, Chris Jones was beasting again yesterday.
PFF seems to agree. He was our highest rated player overall for the preseason going into the game yesterday. Rookie DE Chris Jones looking like a second-round steal Quote:
It's pretty clear that Chris Jones can and will beat weaker/slower OL this year. He's proven that though 3 preseason games. What are your thoughts on this kid? Could he provide more than his replacement, Mike DeVito, this year? DeVito had 19 tackles, 3 stuffs and 3 sacks. |

If he's the real deal... Imagine what happens when Houston returns. I mean, who do you double team when you've got Poe, Bailey, Houston, and Jones coming at you? Tamba could be the surprise benefactor from all the attention the other guys get..

He's our best interior pass rusher already, and he will be getting a lot of snaps. I wouldn't be shocked if he took a starting job at some point this season. He's just too good.

Quite frankly he has outplayed those 3 in front of him and why he should be starting at the very least by mid-season.

If the coaching staff wants to buffer or offset to some degree the Dee Ford embarrassment during the Houston injury the CJ starting sooner than later will definitely do that.

"He displayed the strength and quickness combination..."
This. Jones is so quick off the line that, combined with his strength, his swim move wins a lot. The offensive linemen just can't get their hands on him fast enough, can't set their feet fast enough, and by that time the power Jones has exhibited just overwhelms them. Really looking forward to seeing what this guy can do. Will he play Dontari Poe's position and/or as an end? |

IMO (and I've said this for 3 years now) they should move Poe to end full time and now would be even more perfect. Start Jones at nose and rotate Howard at all 3 line spots to keep everyone fresh.
That would be a straight up beast mode DL. |

I wonder if we will see more 4-3 alignment this year? With the addition and emergence of Jones, we have a very good front 4. Poe-Howard-Jones-Bailey in front of Ford-DJ-Hali would be formidable line. Poe and Ford Rushing the strong side, Howard clogging up things in the middle to free up Jones, then Bailey occupying the right while Hali comes crashing in. That alignment would generate plenty of pass rush and leave DJ free to roam sideline to sideline making plays.

Jones should definitely be the main interior pass rusher in nickel and dime packages. Honestly I don't want him playing every snap. I hope he averaged about 60-70% of the snaps. You want a guy like Jones to stay fresh so he can be more consistently disruptive. |

I'll drop this here:
http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2016/...n-the-2016-nfl Article that came out during draft time. I drafted him in the CP mock. I like the player, just that he wasn't very productive at Mississippi State. |

The knock on him is that he took plays off. But he's in the NFL now
He knows he can't do that and it's been proven |
