He had his beast season last year, and was gritty, and pretty OK. That's the guy he is at this point in his career. But we can also not pretend that he didn't pretty much suck ass for 8+ seasons.

A lot of people fail to realize that Alex Smith is our version of Rich Gannon. San Fran fans (and I have tons of friends in the Bay Area, so I know) are like, what the ****? Why didn't we keep that guy?! Why didn't he do that while he was here?!
Well, he did, and you picked the wrong guy...plain and simple. The Raiders won a SB with Gannon, and it remains to be seen what Alex can accomplish here...but I know for sure San Francisco would love to have him back.

I think it's about where he belongs. I know it sucked last year when he took a 1-5 team to 11-5... Oh right, I forgot. The defense did that, not him. The QB plays a very small role in wins.
