Kiper's 25 best available players on Day 2

http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2016/ins...-heading-day-2

Mel Kiper Jr.
Football analyst

comment
There's a certain dread involved in drafting in the first round. You're making a big commitment to a player, and you know as a decision-maker that name is on your résumé -- success or failure.

Day 2? That's when you get excited. The contracts get a little smaller; you still get to draft players that compare favorably with many of the first-round guys; and when you get great players out of this range, history smiles on you.

Here are the best players left on my board heading into Day 2 of the 2016 NFL draft.

1. Myles Jack, ILB, UCLA

Questions about whether Jack's knee is a major concern have been answered. Yes, it is. But he's a top-10 talent and, if healthy, he's a fit on any roster.

Watch Jack's highlights

2. A'Shawn Robinson, DL, Alabama

Robinson fell based on questions of whether he can be a disruptive presence as opposed to more of a steady run-stopping type. He can go as soon as Cleveland with the first pick in Round 2.

Watch Robinson's highlights

EDITOR'S PICKS

Kiper: Round 1 winners and question marks
As expected, quarterbacks went 1-2 in the NFL draft. But Round 1 wasn't without a few questionable picks. Rounds 2 and 3 continue Friday (7 p.m. ET on ESPN & WatchESPN).
3. Jarran Reed, DL, Alabama

Arguably the best run-stuffer in the class, he loses a little luster because he won't get sacks, but he makes any D-line better. Cleveland or Tennessee are fits right away in Round 2.

I'm a believer.

He's definitely worth a 2nd and we have one of the best sets of position coaches for DB's in the NFL...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Probably inconsistency. He'll give up a bunch and then take some away. I wasn't overly impressed with the kid except for his ball skills. He wasn't a guy that I thought moved well, bad transitional footwork.

I really like Kalan Reed out of Southern Miss though, kid looks solid.

I just have a bad feeling about it.

I'd spend a 2nd on Scooby 3 Snacks or Brothers over him.

Now I'd IMMEDIATELY sign him as an UDFA...

In a pinch I think he could play single high or in the box. I'd prefer him playing man but he's not afraid to make a tackle.

He makes plays on the ball and having two OVERLY aggressive DB's brings the nasty to a D...

"When the Cincinnati Bengals took Houston’s William Jackson with the 24th pick, he flashed some excitement but the Pittsburgh Steelers choosing Miami’s Artie Burns at No. 25 left him sullen and the room speechless.

The Arizona Cardinals at No. 28 and Carolina Panthers at No. 31, other possible destinations, also passed on Alexander."

- Interesting, no mention of KC.

He just not in the same class as the guys that went in the 1st

Noticeable drop after Burns, just not the same level of athletes after that group.

really ... why?

He's just not as good as the 1st group but he is the best 'next' CB.

You think S Vonn Bell and CB Kendall Fuller will go before Alexander?
