We are not taking a QB in the second round. None of them are worth it and let's face it, Andy and Dorsey love Smith. They love his skill set, attitude, leadership and running ability. They will not get rid of him and start over yet. 2 more years for sure of him and unless he goes way south probably 4 years more of him.

I don't see KC drafting and starting over with a QB draft pick but both Andy and Dorsey have been involved with drafting a QB high (Kolb in the 2nd and Rodgers in the 1st) as potential replacements for an established starting QB (McNabb & Favre respectively).

That being said would I be surprised if KC takes one of the "second tier" QBs, i.e. Hackenburg, Cook, or Prescott? Not at all, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is a QB free draft for KC.

Let's face it, the Chiefs as an organization put little to no value in drafting and developing a starting QB. Only 3 1st round picks used to draft a QB in the franchise history, zero success in developing any 2nd round QB pick, and a long history of getting other team's QBs to be our starters to differing degrees of success.

We Chiefs' fans as starved for a "home grown" star QB. But barring injury Alex is our starter for at least the next 3 years and possibly the next 5 years.

Oh well only 3-5 in prison. After that I can get excited again.

I'd be thrilled to see the Chiefs take Hackenberg with a late 2nd. He's Tyler Bray physically but with way more intelligence. He's an investment more than fix but with Smith being here for the foreseeable future it makes sense. Smith seems like he'd be a damn good mentor to boot.

Shut up, she's not a slut and I love her!

So....

...your saying we essentially have 2 Tyler Brays on our roster?

Osweiler was a second rounder and he just got paid. QB talent will be available.

Biff Assweiler is not a comparison I would want for a QB. The guy is nothing special.

But between now and then some quality starting QB will get injured, his back up will play well, and KC will trade away draft picks to get the back up. I mean who wouldn't be excited to see Blaine Gabbert as the starting QB in 2019?
