Geoff Schwartz released by the Giants...

Hmm....

Gotta think we might make a stab at this one.

There's no possible way he can improve this team, as it's not being run by Scott Pioli or Carl Peterson.

Possibly but a good GM will turn the rock over and see what's there. I think Dorsey is a good one but he wouldn't be doing his job to not check.

ummm ... no, that ship has sailed

we should have kept Schwartz or got a better replacement back when, but now we have other options and are moving forward.

We have several guard on the roster now, we need a right tackle.

Grubbs might stay
Jeff Allen might return at guard
Morse could move to guard(fulton at center)
Reid looked better at guard than RT
LDT is passable
Pughsley looked good in the PS

Again, why?

Is he beating out LDT?

He's not playing RT.

They just gave Reid the extension to be the same guy you want them to sign Schwartz to be.

Because he's 30 years old and has missed a significant amount of games the past two seasons.

As Sac said, he's not beating out Morse or LDT or Reid or Fulton. I doubt he could beat out Pughsley.

He's an old, injured player that has no place on a team looking to make a championship run.

This team is a legit RT and WR away from fielding a very potent offense.

Sure, you can bring a guy like Schwartz in for a look, but he's not going to give you anything that they didn't get with the signing of Reid besides a substantially longer history of injuries.

At this point, I'm not sure that Morse is capable of holding up at the pivot. The concussion issue was obviously serious. If they can't resign Allen for anything reasonable, they can move him over to LG, keep Fulton at C (who played surprisingly well there and it helps mitigate his lack of foot speed), they've got the makings of a very, very solid offensive line. RT is the only real missing piece and I wouldn't mind them spending a high round pick on one to seal up that side.

How potent is our offense ever going to be with our current OC?

several issues to consider:

If Charles doesn't get hurt does the playcalling improvement occur at all?

When Charles comes back does the playcalling revert?

Do the audibles at the LoS for Smith continue next year with Charles back and Pederson gone?(seems like audibles helped too)

We don't know whether Pederson was a positive, negative or neither?

Coaching is an issue for us on both sides of the ball and, unlike Denver, we aren't going to make any changes after a disappointing playoff loss.

Reid's most successful years in Philly came with Childress as his OC.

As someone posted earlier this year, the Chiefs scored more points in the first half when Reid called the plays than in the second half when Pederson called the plays.

And while Brian Westbrook is similar to JC in his prime and probably closer to West, Childress had an effective running game in Minnesota with AP. While not comparable to AP (because really, who is?), Ware's role will be similar in terms of wearing down a defense and churning out the tough yards.

If the Chiefs can add another playmaker at WR, whether in the draft, Free Agency or the improvement of Conley, along with an even average right tackle, this team will be dangerous offensively, with Andy Reid's warts and all.

People in this thread really compared Geoff Schwartz to Marcus Peters and Jamaal Charles. Wow.

Yep. I REALLY hope Conley can improve to being a legit # 2 and then move Wilson to slot, where I think he'd be a perfect fit. Then we'd have all playmakers on the team in the position that suits there skill set.

That entire first half/ second half playcalling is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard.
