The playoff picture

Right now the Chiefs are in the #5 slot against, believe it or not, the Indianapolis Colts. Talk about picking at a scab.

http://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture

Obviously, the Chiefs need to keep winning, but looking at the other wild card contenders, I thought it was interesting that the Chiefs have the first tiebreaker against every team they've played that's in the hunt.

The wildcard contenders are:

#6 - Texans (Chiefs won head to head)
#7 - Jets - no game this year
#8 - Steelers (Chiefs won head to head)
#9 - Raiders - two games coming up
#10 - Bills (Chiefs won head to head)

It seems like we want the Texans to lose the weak South Division to the Colts so we can keep that tiebreaker, though of course I'd prefer the Jaguars to storm back and knock the Colts out. Screw the Colts.

None of the teams in the playoffs right now are out of the Chiefs' league. The Bengals and Patriots probably rightfully own the #1 and #2 seeds, but they're both beatable.

Remember MNF, Week 2 against the Raiders that year?!?!?!
Mr. Grbac looked damn sexy throwing that pass to Andre Risen.

I don't care who we play as long as we can win a playoff game for a change.

So , if we happen to lose to the Raiders, then we're both 6-6 and the Raiders own the tiebreaker and we're ****ed as 2 or 3 other teams move to 7-5

Looks like this is a huge week also.

Basically we got to win out.

No we don't. 9-7 will get us in. I think we will slip up and lose one of our final games, but at 10-6, we should be comfortably in and probably the 5th seed.

Raiders showed this past week that they can be dangerous and KC plays them twice... big games.

Looking at that, the Jets may be the most worrisome team with regard to battling for the #5 seed.

I am going to root for Houston to win the south. Then maybe I can come up with the money to go to the game down here!

Jets and Steelers have solid weapons and nice schedules. Colts surprisingly haven't lost ground with Luck out and Houston is hanging around. One of those two should fall short.

The race for the final two spots is tight and the margin for error is minimal for all involved.

The one's marked in red are the one's I see these teams possibly losing (yes, a couple of them are the teams playing each other, but say Colts/Texans - that game could go either way.

I don't think any team on this list is in the driver's seat for the other wild-card slot like the Chiefs are. However, what looks good on paper doesn't always look good on the football field (see Packers/Bears at Lambeau for example.)
