Brady takes jab at Peyton Manning in email

This is probably part of the reason he doesn't want his text messages out there.

Tom Brady jabs at Peyton Manning in private emails

By Henry McKenna @McKennAnalysis
Boston.com Staff | 08.05.15 | 1:02 PM

Tom Brady is supposedly competitive about everything. Apparently, he’s even competitive about the length of his career when compared to his NFL rival Peyton Manning.

The Patriots quarterback jabbed at Manning in his private email correspondence, revealed in the NFLPA lawsuit to appeal Brady’s four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate. Brady was emailing with a childhood friend Kevin Brady, who brought up a Grantland article comparing the two quarterbacks and outlining Manning’s decline. Brady wrote that his career will last at least five years longer than Manning’s. Manning is 39, Brady is 38.

Zinger.

And Brady’s not blind to the differences in the two quarterbacks’ careers. In another correspondence with blogger Jay Flannelly, Flannelly wrote to Brady about those major differences, saying Manning “needs everything to be perfect.” Brady didn’t seem to disagree, providing a typical Patriot-esque response.

Perhaps Brady buys into the Brady-Manning rivalry as much as we do.

Why?

Last year it was HILARIOUS when people were saying "he was done." I got into a huge argument with board genius KC Connection about it.

Brady was the same guy last year as he was 10 years prior. He hasn't lost a thing. Same freaking guy. He can easily play another 4-5 years.

I can, without a doubt, seeing him being a top 3 NFL QB at age 43 or 44. As long as he can still throw it ... said as much last year. His body hasn't broken down at all like Peyton. Peyton will be lucky to get through this year.

Brady isn't the deep Thrower he once was, but has pretty great timing and accuracy. Have to see how the arm strength holds up

I disagree with this, despite what people in NE might tell you.

When was he ever great with the deep ball? When he had Randy Moss? Well then, fine, ok, he struggles with the deep ball now, then. I think that might have something to do with the fact he has no deep ball receivers, but meh, who knows.

If Brady is bagging on Manning that's ok with me.

There is a reason men aren't professional quarterbacks that play at elite levels past 40. Favre, Manning, keep on going, it just happens. Manning was pretty solid at 37yo. Not as much at 38.

Father time has a way with dropping levels of testosterone that really begins to fall off around the 37 or so mark. I'm 48. I could still do the things I did when I was 40 that I did when I was 32ish. Now, not so much. And no, I'm not an elite athlete, but it's just how it works. You can't train muscle and ligament changes that occur as you hit that age. I give Manning this year, and I give Brady maybe three more.

Montana HATED Elway.

It was no secret. He didn't like the guy before Montana came to KC.

Giving him that snarl as he ran off the field was a very 1994 way of saying "How's my **** taste?"

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Brady is an arrogant asshole. It's clear as day when he's interviewed.

Bullshit. He will hit the wall like Favre and Manning. Next year will be his last.

He is apparently pretty crazy. Everything he eats, drinks and his entire workout regimen is structured around football and staying in peak health for it so he can play as long as possible.

We'll see, of course. His deep ball touch isn't quite what it once was, but his accuracy, decision-making and quickness in throwing the ball are all as good as they were 10 years ago. As long as he has those trait, he is going to be a very, very good QB.
