Pino is the same guy as Blanton / Guthrie / Vargas / Young to an extent.

As long as he throws strikes and keeps the ball in the yard, our defense will make him look a lot better than he is.

If our offense scores 4 or 5 runs, we should be ok. Fortunately, our offense is on a nice little hot streak right now.

The same team that tried "closer by committee" thought "Hey, we don't need a #1 or #2 starter. We can win with a bunch of #4s and #5s. We'll just pay them like aces, and that'll do the trick."

You've got to love that sort of stubbornness.

I actually like Pino a little bit more than Blanton/Guthrie/Vargas from a talent prospective ... He has looked to have pretty good raw stuff in the outings I've seen this year. Good breaking pitch and good fastball command.

Take that crap somewhere else. In a ****ing heartbeat would i take an actual championship surrounded by three shitty seasons compared to the championships my teams have never won in my lifetime.

But by them mentioning how overpaid the Boston roster is, we can then bring up the fact they owe Rick Porcello $25 million/year for the next 4 years.

Yup. That's right. That bum Porcello got a $100 million contract.

Given that this is a Red Sox/Royals thread, and the Red Sox are a Boston team, this is weak trolling, even for you.

Oh, and, Hootie.....

Have a great day.

4-7 with a 5.29 ERA

Meanwhile, Lester's struggling to adapt to the National League, but still has an ERA under 4.

I never, ever, ever understood his hype. Ever. And that contract is hilarious. Who in god's name gave him that?

Boras factor is the only thing I can think of.

Same reason he didn't get picked until 27th in the first round. He wanted a lot of money and he got it too.

Pitching is expensive, he got the market rate. If he pitches at his past average he will earn that contract.
