Alex Smith will throw 25 Tds to Wide Receivers this year

Chiefs | Alex Smith being asked to go deep

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 19:37:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been asked to take more shots down the field this season. "I like where Alex is," offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. "But now in the spring, we want to see any quarterback shoot the ball down the field and at least test it. That gives him the comfort level the next time he's in that situation."

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Smith will be effective throwing the ball down the field remains to be seen, but with Jeremy Maclin in town to provide a deep threat, just taking an occasional shot should help free up Jamaal Charles a bit more.

Chiefs | De'Anthony Thomas preparing for new role

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 17:15:46 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has shed weight in order to maximize his speed as he transitions from running back to wide receiver. "I just got a lot stronger and I feel like I'm good right now where I'm at," Thomas said. "I weigh about, probably, 167."

We better have a major OL improvement.

Do WR TD passes count for more points than TE or RB TD passes?

I don't really give a damn who catches the TD, as long as someone does.

A little deja vu?

http://espn.go.com/blog/kansas-city-...-qb-alex-smith

The Chiefs are trying to get more big offensive plays than they did last year and a reprogramming of Smith is part of the effort. Smith, as usual, did a nice job of protecting the ball last season. He threw just seven interceptions, one of the lowest totals in the league for a starting quarterback.

But Smith’s reluctance to go downfield with the ball at times cost the Chiefs. They had 18 fewer pass plays of 20 or more yards than their opponents. Their leading receiver was running back Jamaal Charles.

So coach Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Doug Pederson and Nagy have subtly been in Smith’s ear, urging him not to be reckless but to take the occasional calculated chance.

I'm saying his statement and yours are both irrelevant because who scores the TD doesn't matter.

So if you limit who scores, won't that effect how much you score? If you have 3 (RB, WR, TE) offensive weapons that score all the points, if you take one of those weapons away, won't that mean less points?

I'll miss all those drops on key 3rd down plays.

Maclin is better and more importantly fits the scheme better.

No one is arguing that....but

I dont see how were gonna get 25 MORE TD's to WR's when we cut the best WR we had that knows the offense...

Maclin isnt THAT much better than DBowe that he is going to suddenly elevate Malex Casmith to some great new heights of long bombership

get real

I don't think Smith will get 25 TDs to WRs. I think he will get 25 TDs total to all receivers though, which works for me.
