If it happens again get one of our fireballers in there like Herrera and have him gas a 100mph heater at someone's head (if the situation allows it of course, ya dont wanna be irrational and stupid just to prove a point).
Making a guy wear one in the ribs or lower back or thigh is one thing. Intentionally throwing at someone's head is another.

The first is acceptable. The second is absolutely not.

I don't think the umpires are going to do that. Its not like we have a history of nastiness with the Twins this season, it'll start out as a normal game, and then as soon as we have a convenient situation, say bases clear 2 outs, we'll hit someone, get warned, and move on. I wouldn't be surprised if a few Royals players quietly let Minnesota what was going to happen so that there's no surprise or fights.

I'm guessing Gore is not going to be holding a bat unless the game is basically over.

Not sure what Mellinger doesn't get here. Orlando is the 4th outfielder, Gore takes over as a pinch running specialist(not that Dyson is only that). We don't need help anywhere else right now so it seems logical to me.

Over/Under of Royals HBP today set at 2

I was thinking yesterday, why not put someone else in as starting pitcher, I admit I'm not too up on middle relievers, but surely one of them is capable of a 100+ mph heater to the rib cage. First pitch, boom, second pitch, boom. He gets tossed, then Volquez comes in and we start the game as normal. Sure we spot them two bases to start, but **** it, we're gonna win 12-3 anyways, might as well put an end to this HBP shit cause it's getting old.

I understand why people suggest this, but I think your overlooking a probable moderately lengthy suspension for Ned and the pitcher. Not worth losing our manager and a player for a week or more. Just have Volquez plunk someone, he'll be warned, the message will have been sent and play ball.

Why free agent pitchers with something to prove aren't lining up for one year deals with us is beyond me. You're pitching at a level deserving of a 4.19 ERA? How does 1.98 sound instead?

Yep. You have to realize, now that Cain is a bona fide superstar, Dyson didn't even have a role on this team other than Kendrys Morales personal runner late in games.

Gore comes up to take that role as Dyson/Orlando platoon in right (with Dyson being the bigger part of that platoon).

Gore is NEVER going to develop into anything other than what he is now ... a 40 man roster September super weapon. He doesn't project as a starting ML'er, ever.

It makes perfect sense.

The only reason we don't flip Dyson for a stud prospect (because he is a 4 WAR guy as an every day OF) is because we are a championship caliber team and we need Cain insurance (and evidently Rios insurance as well), and his speed and defense is an amazing bench weapon and late game weapon for when the games really start to matter (as evidenced by last postseason).

I'm pretty sure we could get a nice haul for Dyson if we attempted to trade him. His WAR speaks for itself. He is a starter on most MLB teams. He's a hell of a player.

It's hilarious it's going to take all of April before everyone finally just figures out ... we are really, really, really good.

Can't run on us, can't get lucky hits against us, you can't score on our bullpen, you can't strike us out, evidently you can't keep us in the yard ...

the only thing that will beat us this year is home runs. Oh...we have a nice ballpark in that regard, too.

...and Chris Young would be a low 3 ERA starter with this defense.

This team is just sick. It's so stacked and so deep. So fun.

I've done some research the past few days on prediction models and when they will start getting enough data for this season to really update things and outweigh the preseason projection data (which is based on previous years). It's about 45-50 games, depending on the measure.

So it will be mid-May, probably, before we see the projections come around on the Royals and see the playoff odds change/update.

Chris Young was such a sneaky little signing at the end of the ST. What tremendous depth he provides for this rotation. Gotta love having top 100 prospects like Finnegan, Zimmer, Manaea, and Almonte being pushed down to the 7th-8th on the MLB rotation depth chart.

Defense and speed don't rest. Putting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense doesn't rest.

I'm sure the hitting will fall off as the season goes on, but if they end up hitting even 150 home runs this season, that's a big, big upgrade for the offense over last year.

And we'll see what Volquez does tonight, but early returns on him are pretty great. So I'm fairly confident the rotation suffers little to no drop-off from last year.
