I went with ...

#1 - The Grinch (original). Love that voice and the animation and the dog with the antler.

#2 - Trading Places. I don't really think of that as a Christmas movie.

#3 - It's a Wonderful Life. You have to like this movie.

I've actually never seen It's a Wonderful Life. I'll add that to the list for this holiday break. We're not traveling this year, so lots of free time.

On a serious note, Gremlins, Die Hard, Christmas Vacation, and Bad Santa are my favorite Christmas flicks. I do like the real classics like It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. But the first 3 out of the 4 on my list were just perfect for the Christmas seasons during my childhood. And Bad Santa is fantastic. For being a crude, vulgar straight up comedy, it did have a pretty touching ending too.

I think multiple generations the #1 movie has been "Its a Wonderful Life".

I had a conversation with several people that believed in 30 years will people be watching "Love Actually" every year at Christmas? A movie with nudity and language?

The reason Rudolf the red nosed reindeer is watched every year by many is that we watched it as kids, remember it fondly and then showed it to our kids who is turn showed it to their kids etc. 50 years later its still growing strong.

How is the Grinch not running away with this? Its only competition would be A Charlie Brown Christmas, which I guess is not technically a movie.

Watch this and change your votes:

Die Hard

I know I'm in the super-minority but I just can't watch "It's a Wonderful Life". It does nothing for me. The Home Alone movies didn't resonate because I was in my early 20's and I think I'm the only living American that hasn't seen "National Lampoon's Christmas".

Yet "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon" always seem like Christmas movies to me.

It is a must watch. The comedy never gets stale. We watch it a few times every year and I still laugh at everything. The light bulbs in the store will never get old. It's just one if those movies that has you smiling the whole way through and doesn't solely rely on the jokes.
