This might make sense if Berry was 30.

Only reason to trade him is if you cant resign him.

You wouldnt get much for him. Teams never trade for high priced salary guys.

I agree, or if he had peaked.

Dude was an all pro last year.

Mellinger also states that he was solely a box safety, and as Sorter has pointed out, that's false

I don't know about that. I don't really remember a Te torching him this year ala his rookie year.

Do they have any numbers in him covering a TE this year?

I think he's been wasted in his role of a rover-linebacker, and probably not worth top safety money if he's going to be continued to be wasted in such a manner.

Now, I admit to not noticing that EB was used as free safety in the playoff debacle that Sorter has pointed out. My bad.

On the topic at hand: it would have to be a ridiculous trade offer to make giving up Berry worthwhile and I'm fairly confident no one is going to float the kind of pick that would be valuable enough for KC to consider it. And I don't think the team is willing to take a loss on flipping him for a pick.

You keep saying that, yet only one TE had a good game against the Chiefs, with Berry being the primary person responsible for coverage.

I think as the season wore on he was used more in coverage, but I don't know or have anything to back that up.

I agree about the extra linebacker part though.

Except, that's exactly why his trade value now is the highest it ever will be.

Mellinger makes a compelling argument I'll admit. I wouldn't be opposed to it if we got a decent haul in return. He's a very good player. but not a game changer IMO.

With the signing of Abdullah, paired with the fact that all we've been interested on safety wise are strong safeties, leads me to believe the Chiefs might agree with us about Berry more at FS

And when do the Chiefs EVER come out on the better end of a trade?

Normally I hate to do it, but I'm Berrys case, I think he is a game changer but it's the coaching staffs place to put him in spots to best use that ability.
