I've Passed Into the Kingdom....

The Chiefs Kingdom.

Got this email from Jayne, the "director of fan experience" yesterday: BTW Jayne, stop this crazy thing:

"George, you are a special part of the Chiefs Family, "The Chiefs Kingdom." Beginning this year you will enjoy an enhanced experience featuring your own personal website that will provide you with a deeper connection with the Chiefs. ChiefsKingdomPass.com is the new home for Season Ticket Holders where you can manage your tickets, receive exclusive content, redeem points for unique prizes and access Season Ticket Holder news and information.

Please review the information below for more information regarding the new features and benefits associated with ChiefsKingdomPass.com. You will also find informational videos and FAQs once you log into the site. To assist you in logging in, please note your account number is blah blah blah.

As always you are welcome to contact the Customer Relations team at 816.920.4237 or customerrelations@kcchiefs.com should you need any assistance. "

Sincerely,
Jayne Martin
Director of Fan Experience

Dear George,
We've been hard at work this entire offseason and finally crafted a plan which will somehow take more of your hard earned money out of your wallet and place it in ours. Congratulations on being a part of this amazing new opportunity. We really like your money and if you'll simply direct-deposit your entire paycheck with KCChiefsPersonalbank.com we will give you discounts at our KCChiefsChevydealership.com and KCChiefsmart.com as long as you do all of your scheduled maintenance and transfer all your prescriptions to us as well. When you buy your gas from KCChiefsgas.com, rest assured that you will be burning only the very best fuel that is used by all our star players in their luxury car fleets which are paid for by the hard-earned money from your wallet, George. Isn't it amazing being a part of our team?

"redeem points" = more opportunities to buy stuff

It's pretty clear based on the past few months that people here aren't normal Chiefs fans. So, you may not like it, but it's a good idea from marketing standpoint (which is, you know, their job).
It's the only explanation that makes sense. It's more about tailgating and hanging out with friends/family, even if it's over a hundred bucks per person... and their depth of football knowledge and obliviousness to the state of the Chiefs is displayed when they feel smart by saying stuff like "the QB can't do his job if he's not well protected!"

The discounts on concessions and other stuff that adds real value is cool, but IMO, there's simply not enough of a benefit over buying single game tickets. Get rid of full priced preseason games, include discounts on parking, etc... hell, even when they offer "special discounted rates for your company" to every single company in the tri-state area, the ticket prices are the same, and the only real discount is not paying TicketMaster fees.... but, people keep buying and renewing, so adding value with things that cost the Chiefs little to nothing is the way to go, I guess.

No, long overdue. They made sure to force that prior to trading for Alex Smith.

Does Holtus get to taste your sweet nectar as you pass into the Kingdom?

What they didn't tell you is that you've also been selected as the Kingdom's new princess and you have a wear a pink dress and a tiara to every game.

No, they shrank that to the point it was like $10, and finally got rid of it altogether as of a couple of years ago. Now they actually sell it as you are getting a 10% discount from single game prices. (So my tickets are $100 each, but have single game value of $110).

So somebody got wise in that department.

Well that is good- I paid a premium all those years- and Even if I could dump a ticket at face value- I was still losing money. We had some great years and got to see a ton of classic games though.

I don't see how that increases the value of being a STH at all. Not one bit.
