I was running an entertainment and sports magazine during the Spoonhower era. Got to sit courtside, interview Spoon several times, watch private practices.

SMS, Creighton, Wichita State... two of those schools don't even have football, and SMS isn't good enough at the D-II level to talk about moving up. If the Big 12 adds, it's going to be schools that bring new markets and that can add something in one of the major sports, preferably football, while being at least average in the other major sport. Someone with a huge basketball tradition might get invited, as long as they brought a big set of TVs with them and weren't completely hopeless in football. That's why Memphis would make some sense. But beyond that, the Big 12 would have to find a way to lure someone like Louisville away from the Big East (maybe?) or Arkansas from the SEC (not going to happen). Hell, even Colorado State would make more sense than any MO Valley school. They at least have some football tradition and would keep a Big 12 footprint in Colorado. New Mexico has been a solid football program and good basketball program for years and would also make sense. Big 12 isn't going to give a slice of the pie to someone who can't help the conference make a bigger pastry to begin with. Anyway, not surprising to see Cuonzo Martin doing well down there. He's a good recruiter.

Two buzzer-beaters from being a single-loss in Valley play. Dammit UNI.

[QUOTE=ChiefsCountry;7355861]Its not SMS and they don't play D2 football dumb****.[/]
Old names die hard. Good FCS football programs struggle to transition to the real league and can't consistently compete. I'll be generous and call SMS a mediocre I-AA Program. Sorry, you're butt hurt, but doesn't change the fact that no MO Valley school is joint the Big 12 ...

PEORIA, Ill. -- Kyle Weems scored 27 points to lead Missouri State to a 78-67 victory over Bradley Sunday night. Weems made 12 of his 14 shots, and Will Creekmore had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears (15-3, 7-0), who lead Wichita State by one game in the Missouri Valley Conference. Missouri State's 7-0 mark is its best start since joining the conference for the 1990-91 season. Nafis Ricks and Jermaine Mallett scored 11 points each for Missouri State, which shot 59 percent from the field and never trailed in the game. Andrew Warren scored 21 points for Bradley (6-12, 0-7), adding to its worst-ever start in Missouri Valley play. Dodie Dunson had 15 points and Walt Lemon Jr. scored 10 for the Braves. dude we played our worst game of the year. We couldnt shoot, we couldnt make our free throws, and we gave the ball away like we were running a charity. This was the same day the chiefs lost in the playoffs. Let just say i wanna forget that day all together. I was pissed for a couple days.
