As many of you already know, I am currently a senior at a high school in central Kansas. As explained in the video, My friend Jake and I started a project attempting to raise enough money to bring two laptops and internet to a school in Nepal. This original goal of the project was to raise enough money to bring a library to this school, but after having a multitude of difficulties launching that project, Jake and I turned our focus to bringing internet to this school. Our hope is that we will soon be able to share skype conversations with the students in this classroom, and that this will open the school to an innumerable amount of possibilities.

don't email a couple news outlets, have someone put together a media release for you. Then send it to every newspaper, tv and radio station in your general area. The public interest will likely lead you to some potential donors who will likely end up reaching out to you. I'm sure someone at chiefsplanet has a media relations background that could help with this.

I realize that the subject matter of some of my posts on this forum have been quite questionable at times. However, I would ask that people do not use some of my past posts as a judgment upon this project.

As pointed out earlier, every donation is being handled by the Center for Leadership and Learning, a foundation run through an educational service center known as ESSDACK. Also, if anyone has any lingering doubts about our cause, we contacted a teacher from Australia named David Kenny, who wrote a testimonial for the school and supplied pictures of himself volunteering at the school. Finally, as "Jive Ass" pointed out, a local news station did a story covering our project.

If anyone else has any questions or suggestions, feel free to shoot them by me.

Thank you for the suggestion! I ended up writing a press release that I sent to CBS News' Assignment America. While that is a bit ambitious, I'll probably send it to every local news outlet as well. Our goal is to get this school internet access before Spring Break, we then hope to hold skype conversations with the classroom and start doing projects with that class.

Today was a wonderful day for the project, Stutzman's refuse, a business in the area, promised to match every one of our donations dollar for dollar up to $2000.

Unfortunately we have learned that one of our major sponsors has backed out. For us, that means that we're left without a once promised $1,300. We could really benefit if more people would help spread the word about us!
