Allergies

This time of year, to go along with Autumn, is probably my favorite. It's great to see everything coming back to life, smell the fresh cut grass, and firing up the grill. But, without fail, I get laid out with these stupid freaking allegies. It's bad. I wake up so congested I feel like I'm coming off a two and a half day bender.

What do those of you who suffer through this do for your allegies?

I can't remember how long the actual time frame was. It was immunotherapy. I had indoor and outdoor allergies. I was on a regiment in KS and moved to TX. I was supposed to continue, but after I moved no more allergies. Can't quite explain it, they have grass, trees, cats and dust here too.

Bowser.

Make life easy and go to a specialist. Go to an asthma/allergy clinic and cut through the BS. Family practitioners can't help you. They'll tell you to take Claritin or something. Different antihistamines work for different people. Only Zyrtec helps me, and not much. Now I get the desensitisation shots (been getting them for 3 yrs). They make me 50-75% better.

It seems that Benadryl works for everybody, but most people can't handle the drowsiness.

If the problem is congestion, sudafed is the key. But now they just about strip-search you to sell it to you. And it can elevate blood pressure, so watch that.

Few things are worse than a sinus headache.....

Claratin doesn't do a ****ing thing for me. I tried Clarinex (presciption 30% more concentrated ingredient as Claratin), suck. Allegra works OK, Benedryll works, I think, but I just freaking pass out so I don't really know.

What has worked the best for me is Zrytec. They make a Zyrtec D (plus pseudophed) that you have to go to the counter to get because you look like a meth head. That's my suggestion.

My dad said Flonaise (I think it is still prescription) and got good results.

If you have asthma, singulair can be used as a different sort of antihistamine. It doesn't work the same way as the other drugs, but it is supposed to be good. Doesn't do shit for me.

Best of luck. Allergies are shit ass

This sounds like me,never had a focking thing in my life, move to the fresh country air 10 years ago, going to sleep with the windows open listen to the bullfrogs etc. and wham I develop allegeries to everything. No windows open,no mowing grass,no yard work.

I'm on 2 prescriptions 365 days a year and at times like this can't get any relief.

This, it helps. I get allergies really bad, but i dont like to take medication unless i have too. Allergies only last for like 2 months anyways. The only thing i really hate is when i get the massive sneezes. After a while it hurts.

Zyrtec works somewhat well for me and I take pseudoephedrine when I need it. I used to take the D variant of Zyrtec but found that it was just easier to buy a bunch of the red tabs since I don't always need the decongestant and it's a pain to buy.
