Yeah, they do. I volunteer at then every year. Its very simple. I even eat there when im done because there is always extra food. Combine that with WIC and i have No idea how ppl would ever possibly be hungry.

Well I thought it was a pretty great "screw off ima do what I want" type story. He's already donated over 100,000 pounds of food I believe. Good on him.

Well meaning, but sooooo misguided.

He passed on $37 million to give some food to the poor. He could have earned that $37 million, lived his life out on $2 million and given $15 or $20 million net after taxes and etc. to the poor. I'm not knocking his altruism or philanthropy in the least, just saying that if he had more head than heart, he could REALLY have done a great service for the poor of his state. He could have squirreled away at least $20 million cash with which to use as his own private foundation to feed the hungry.

Work smarter, not harder.

I think most hungry in the USA are either mentally deficient so they don't know how to get food, or they are children of neglect and suffer under bad parent with malnutrition at best and hunger at worst. Of course, there are school lunch programs too.

You are right in that the abundance of government programs is bountiful enough that no person in the USA should ever go hungry. It is just that some people don't have the mental acuity to get help using these programs or have bad parents who misallocate resources.

Every friends I've know who works in the liquor store business has said the same thing. They see the EBT cards flood in and the poor people rush to the liquor stores to fill up on chips and snack food for their kids. Not healthy nutritious food but crap their kids don't need but is just easy and convenient to give them. These parents are just super lazy, dumb or ignorant.

Playing 5more years in the NFL as a center is easy? I would bet its one of the most taxing positions in the NFL to play outside of RBs. Maybe he didn't want to take the pounding anymore.
