I've tried a bunch of different types of socks while skiing and the only ones I've ever truly thought made a difference were my red under-armors. Skiing is something of an ultimate test of cold-weather gear, IMO. You have extremely cold temperatures, moisture, physical exertion and a lot of different twists/turns for the clothing (all over a fairly long period of time). They definitely make a difference in overall warmth when you're skiing. Better still, they're not nearly as thick as the wool socks so you still get plenty of feel in the boot and it makes for better control in the process. I also love my knock-off compression shirt. I use it for fall softball (and wore just it under my Dawson jersey at the game last night). They worked great. To each their own, but I think the underarmor stuff is great.

I've been studying Mandarin on a pirated version of Rosetta Stone. It's fantastic.

I haven't tried out the socks. I have several nice pairs that do just fine for me and my feet hardly ever get cold.

Link The base layer stuff is pretty good. It works well for the work I have to do outside in the balls ass cold. It keeps me warm enough with jeans and a respectable pair of coveralls keeps me warm enough that my face with a face cover over everything but my eyes is the weak link. |

Apparently all the marketing dollars they spend to convince you of their superiority are working.
Seriously people, it's a brand name, not a totally different kind of clothing. I'd love to see what you'd think if we took a Cabela compression shirt and put an UnderArmour logo on it. People would probably "think" it was more comfortable than some store brand compression shirt. |

He'd better hope not. The new overlords wouldn't look kindly on his thievery.

I use 'underarmor' a lot like I use 'kleenex'. I have my wal-mart knockoff compression shirt that I think does a great job. That said, I've tried cheaper 'cold gear' style socks socks and none of them are as good as my 10 yr old underarmor socks. In fairness, Cabela's kinda ripped off underamour here. UA kinda pioneered that stuff, at least in terms of making it truly mainstream. I don't see any problem with giving them 'label rights' for something they really brought to the market.

Funny to read the underarmor comments about staying warm. Out here we buy underarmor heat gear to wick away moisture and keep us cool during athletics practice and outdoor activity. Boxerjocks FTW.

Yeah, now that I re-read my post I probably could have left that last line out. Apologies fromunda the bottom of my heart.
