Spencer Ware can trigger a significant salary escalator against SD
I know it's all relative for these guys and the amount of coin they make, but an extra $600K is nothing to sneeze at, even at Ware's pay level. He's questionable, but my guess is he plays like he's got over a half million bucks on the line, not to mention possible home field and a 1st round bye.
"He has a career high 921 rushing yards this season, which has increased his 2017 base salary from $700,000 to $1.3 million. It will be $1.9 million if Ware can gain 79 yards on the ground against the Chargers in the season finale to reach 1,000 yards." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ag...nings-of-2016/ |

Reggie Bush is in danger of setting a not good record:
Reggie Bush could end the year with negative yards. |

He's earned it.
Running hard and making a lot of the holes himself. I'm not one to say "just give him all the money" for every player that comes around either. Charles got 3 million and Houston got 7 million for doing rehab this year.

If Andy intentionally set a player to not earn a bonus... really. We are asking this?

Of course. Not really understanding the 'sit him for this meaningless game' mentality. We NEED this game badly. Denver can (and will) beat Oakland, and if somebody doesn't think we can easily lose to the Chargers then they haven't been a Chiefs fan for very long.

seems like the right choice. I wonder how you do it wrt the cap. Rewrite contract to pay him more next year? Can you just rewrite the current one to lower the bonus for this year.
Seems like something you'd have to keep quiet. Don't really want to set a precedent |

I don't think the Chiefs can just give him the bonus. What would be fair would be to redo his contract. The guy has been a team player and has played his guts out. Pay the man.
