The Compendium of Geno Hope

Looking at everything as a whole, it doesn't seem very likely that Geno is the Chiefs pick.

Looking at specific things, however, we see a glimmer of hope.

1. Alex Smith has not been extended.

2. Alex Smith was brought in to "stabilize" the QB position, not to ostensibly win a Super Bowl.

3. Geno is a natural fit in the WCO.

4. The Jaguars are hunting for Matt Flynn, which suggests that they will not be in the Geno market, making a trade down from 1.1 unlikely.

5. Outside of tackle, there are no particularly obvious 1.1 picks.

6. The Chiefs have said they want to make Branden Albert the left tackle of the future.

7. Geno threw extremely well at the Combine with a Chiefs WR coach standing right next to him.

so this guy named Andy just waltzes up in here and trades for Alex, right? Right! Then he says something to the effect of getting my boy Alex in the hall of fame. THE hall of ****ing FAME! Then we got my boy Chase in here to back him up. Why in the hell would we draft a guy we essentially don't need? You don't draft the replacement of your future hall of famer when he's under thirty!

He also said Branden Albert is a pro bowl quality left tackle that they want to sign long term...

What's worse?

Drafting a quarterback and letting him take the Aaron Rodgers/Colin Kaepernick career path, or drafting Joeckel at 1 and trading Albert for a 2?

Hours later, EVERYBODY starts looking elsewhere for qbs.

IMO one of two things happened...

1) We already traded down with someone who will take Geno at one and we just haven't announced it.

2) they all think Geno is gone and are moving on to other options.
These are the 2 scenarios I see as well. Either we already have a trade in place, or we are taking Geno. Everyone else knows they're out.

Also, news might not leak of what it is, maybe the NFL wants the 1st pick to be kept under wraps for prime-time ratings...?

Holy balls.

That is some sequential logic, there.

or 3) everyone still wants him and GMs are trying to juke each other by feigning lack of interest. No sense in driving the price up on themselves this early.
