He did get to play on basically the best offense in football over a 4 year stretch. Granted they were more of a running team but they had one of the best offensive lines in recent history, if not ever. Plus maybe the best blocking FB and TE in football. If you put Derrick Henry with that group he might run for 2500 yards. Would have been foolish to not build the offense around that.

**** Tony.
Being way to hard on Tony Bro. Look at the QBs Tony had to play with and what he accomplished with them. I mean Jesus, Tyler Thigpen, Brodie Croyle, Damon Huard? Come on man?

Yes Trent was Good but Tony was all world with some horrible QBs throwing to him. He just wanted to win some playoff games and he gave the Chiefs YEARS to get there.

Yeah, every story I've ever heard about Brett as a person is bad. Never stopped him from being my favorite baseball player of all time.

It's certainly not Tony's fault that the Chiefs never won it all while he was here, anymore than it's George's fault that the Royals only won it all once. They did their jobs. Others around them failed.

Different eras notwithstanding, George played his entire career for the Royals, and continued to contribute to the organization long after his retirement as a player. He was a great ambassador for the city and team during their two recent World Series appearances. Yes, he can be a c-o-c-k bag on a personal level and is known to be surly and irascible when experienced by a few fans and reporters... but 8 year old me got his autograph after a game on a 1977 Grand Slam gameday program, and he playfully pulled my hat down over my eyes afterward. So screw it; I love the sonofabitch.

Tony prepared himself relentlessly and set a sterling example for rookies and veterans alike with his approach to practice and games; he defined the term 'professional'. He never took his talent for granted, never got in trouble, and even defended Tyler Thigpen as his QB when this organization was an active burning trash pile...but, he walked away from KC quicker than a two-dollar whore and never looked back.

Loyalty is a two-way street. We like our professional athletes to love us back, but they rarely do. Brett may be a dick, but he's our dick. TG is just a supremely talented former player.

I'm not being too hard on Tony. He's an asshole.

He was an asshole before he made those statements. He'll be an asshole after those statements. The only thing that will ever change is he'll probably just become an even bigger asshole.

I've never understood why some are so hard on Tony G. Dude just wanted to win a playoff game and the Chiefs were in forever rebuilding mode at that point.

He played during the worst time since pre-Marty to be a Chiefs fan. Rookie year he got a taste of losing your first game in the playoffs with HFA. Then no playoffs for 6 years - and another painful first round exist. Then one more abysmal performance in 2006 when we had zero chance.

And Herm didn't have the balls to try to go for a TD at home so Tony could break the record there when it would have been a really cool moment at the end of the game.

And then - would you want to play for the Pioli regime?

All of this.

And if Tony was really an asshole, he would've just tanked away a lot of those games. And some players would have.

Instead, Tony played like a professional and like the best TE in the game every week, period. He gave KC everything he had in every game. He didn't really have to do that. He could'v easily played just well enough. But he played at an elite level even through seasons where everyone knew the chiefs were garbage.

Can't really ask for anything more than that.

Yeup.

**** that dude. Will not cheer for him, hope to hell they don't have him on the drum this weekend. Fans that still support that dick after the shit he's shoveled on this franchise and this town just have some weird need to be loved.

Tony Gonzalez wouldn't piss on any of us if we were on fire. He views his time here as wasted and wants nothing to do with us rube midwesterners.

He's a prima donna prick and he can kiss the fattest part of my ass.
