Bill Snyder was 69 when he returned to K-State

Who would have thought that a 69 year old coach could come out of retirement and immediately rebuild his former team back to their former glory days? I know I didn't think he could do it.

What Bill Snyder did at K-State was amazing when he was originally hired back in 1989, and it's equally amazing that he could duplicate that success when he came back in 2009. He never won the national championship, but I think the K-State fans are pretty happy he came back to try again.

Someone else is 69 right now.

Just sayin.

Actually, when he left it really was time for him to go. He had 9 good years, and then both he and the team sucked in his last year.

But I knew at the time that one day most of us would look back on those days and wish for just a little bit of fun again. Right now I just want to put a bag over my head like the fans of the Ain'ts and the Dolts used to do.

No No No, you are interpreting this wrong... Bill Snyder is one of the great coaches because he is from St Joe... we just need to find a St Joe boy to coach the Chiefs!

Chris Tabor for Chiefs head coach! (well, at least our special teams would improve! and he is a former QB so he understands the importance of that position...)

Thing is, I walked into this thread thinking it would be a "celebration" of Bill Snyder. It's not even close. In fact, Marty, couldn't hold Bill's jock strap. As a KU fan, it pains me to say that, but he is a legit a coach as these parts (the KC area) has ever seen.

I doubted that old man from the second he took over his second run with KSU. But my god, he can coach.

There was nothing better than Raider week when Marty was coach...

I miss the feeling that I had every week, that no matter who we were playing we had a great chance at winning, and a lot of weeks I knew we were going to win.

There's a few whiny ****s on here that like to bitch about Marty's postseason record, and of course, we would all have liked to have had a couple of Super Bowl wins in that era...But to pretend that all the playoff losses can be laid at Marty's doorstep is ridiculous. He was one of the most hard luck playoff coaches I've ever seen.

And of course the most accomplished QB he ever had to work with in his time at KC was a 90 year old Montana...

He would be a good offensive coordinator.

Other than that, bad. He doesn't have the mindset (or desire) to deal with an NFL roster.

The build up for games like this kill my nerves, so I don't drink before or during them. Thought about cracking a celebratory Weihenstephaner after the game but went to bed instead.

****, at this point I don't give a flying ****. Marty, Cowher, Vermeil, Haley, anything...
This franchise is a ****ing laughing stock. Imagine what a real coach could do with the talent on this team. Marty would have the defense ranked the top ten...

As far a Snyder goes... He may go down as one of the top ten coaches in CFB history if his team keeps playing like this. I've never seen anything like it. I was skeptical when he came back. I thought there was a good chance he'd tarnish his rep and be forced out by 2013. Man, he is (IMO) the greatest coach I have ever seen in CFB in the last 20 years at least. Put that program back in contention two years, then have them fighting for a National Championship in three? Amazing.
