I wish i could like metal more than i do. But every time a metal lyricist opens his mouth i wanna shoot myself in the face. They're either screaming obnoxiously or the lyrics are just straight up cheesy as ****, often times both.
I don't mind screaming, i prefer it in my Punk...but there's something about Metal lyricists that just drives me nuts.

TULSA, OK – Local musician Mike Thornton, frontman of the hardcore band Striving Few, announced last night during his band’s set that he no longer identifies as a vocalist, but as a singer. “Yo, listen up. I need to speak my truth. For years, I’ve been listed as ‘vox’ on all our releases. But that’s not me. I am telling you all tonight I am up here as a singer,” said Thornton, known for his unintelligible, harshly yelled vocals. |

Dave Mustain. That's the guy. A buddy of mine told me about this rock legend. He was a hardcore Mustain groupie. I don't know what it was that l listened to, as i've heard Megadeth before and didn't have a problem with it, but when I put this shit on I face palmed the whole time.

Here is some melodeath goodness:
Vocalist mixes in two or three variations of growling in addition to all the clean vocals. |

I will say that im diggin' the Stoner Metal stuff...wherever that thread went. I pulled a lot of good music out of there.
Upon further investigation, it's that Death Metal stuff that i can't stand. Here's a great example. The instrumentation is good. Then the lead singer opens his ****ing mouth. And yet i like bands like Mudvayne and Slipknot....go figure lol

I saw Megadeth with Slayer when both bands were celebrating the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace and Seasons in the Abyss, respectively. The bands played those albums in their entirety and it was downright painful listening to Mustaine try to sing all the songs on Rust in Peace. The guitar work on all those songs still made them awesome live but the vocals were really bad.
