Yes. It wasn't until the Military started paying the NFL in 09 that they actually had the players out on the field to stand., they still did it for the super bowl though

The first is there so we can speak and protest freely to and about any entity of government and we know this because the bill of rights enumerates how we are protected from the government as citizens.

My right to say that your child is a reeruned walleyed waste of a teacher's time and the world's limited resources is a beautiful, but secondary, benefit of the first.

This is not a good comparison because making fun of a kid with Down syndrome is malicious and mean-spirited, neither of which would any reasonable person relate to sitting/kneeling during the national anthem. There's clearly a victim in your scenario, not so much in Kaep's case.

Your comparison is tantamount (paramount?) to the anti-gay crowd saying we shouldn't allow same-sex marriage because people will then start marrying their kids, pets, etc.

desecrating the flag or not standing for the national anthem, which have nothing to do with their cause, is tantamount to spitting in the face of every man or woman who put on the uniform to protect our way of life.
