What happened to all the misdirection?

As I watched the Cowboys game, I kept noticing that our offense has settled into a pretty typical "line up, look around, snap the ball" approach lately. We were having so much success with all the movement and misdirection early in the season that it seems odd that they've gone away from it.

Any theories on why? Or am I just crazy and they're still doing it at about the same rate?

The only things I can think of are that injuries to guys like Wilson who were often part of the misdirection have made them prune down the playbook a bit or that they just don't like their chances against certain teams, but still, it seems very odd.

Yep, last year reek would abuse teams when they lined him up a RB because they didn't know what was coming and were playing on their heels reacting waiting for a pass or run and reek would use his speed to get by guys for big plays. This year when he is in the back field they know he isn't there to pass block or catch a pass they attack him and he looks average as a runner. Teams are looking for the jet sweep and even the shovel now when in certain formations.

I think Andy used all that up early to give teams so much shit to prep for in the hopes it would take away preps from the basic plays. You overload their work load on tape early then beat them later in the season with real NFL football plays. Too bad for him his QB is alix.

I know 2 catches for Tyreek Hill isn't enough. With Hill, Hunt, and Kelce we should be moving the damn chains all damn day. Teams should be so afraid of getting beat over the top that they gift wrap us the short to intermediate routes.

The offensive line will get better as they play more together but I hope they don't rush back Dee Ford or Albert Wilson in the next 3 weeks.

If they're ready to play, great, but I'd rather them all be healthy in December, when the Chiefs face the Chargers, Raiders and Broncos (and Dolphins, who are on the fringe) as opposed to the 1-7 Giants, 4-5 Jets and 5-3 Bills.
Ford isn't even a JAG. He is a complete bust.

You don't have to actually run the jet sweep...just bring him in motion and open up the box a little bit or at least get the LB's moving off to the side.

This has come up in chat a few times as well. I truly don't understand why we're not using it anymore. Kareem Hunt up the middle for a 2 yard gain every first down is getting old.

Ironically, some teams have stolen from Reids playbook....

On Friday, on the team bus on the way to the Los Angeles International Airport for the flight to New Jersey, coach Sean McVay was telling a story about one of the turning-point plays of their season. It happened in Week 4, against Dallas. Late in the third quarter, down 29-24, Rams ball at their 47-yard line, Jared Goff took a shotgun snap. From Goff’s left, speedy Tavon Austin came in motion. Snap. Ball-fake to Austin on the jet sweep. Todd Gurley circled out of the backfield as though to run a typical running back wheel route. Except he never stopped. He bisected Dallas defenders Damien Wilson and Kavon Frazier and kept going up the right seam. Goff hit Gurley in stride, for a 53-yard touchdown. The Rams took the lead there and never trailed.

“I got that from Andy Reid,” McVay said. “Opening night, Kansas City at New England.”

The team would benefit with hill or hunt in movement spread out 4 to 5 wide. No huddle and shotgun. But that requires quick plays called in. Which means Alex calls them. This would give time for pre snap adjustments and stop the substitutions.
