Rick Pitino fired
Rick Pitino reportedly fired by Louisville in wake of federal corruption case
Pitino’s attorney, Steve Pence, told the Louisville Courier-Journal that the coach had been placed on administrative leave Wednesday and that he had been “effectively fired.” Pitino’s contract says he must be given 10 days’ notice of his termination, which only can be decided by a vote of the Louisville athletic department’s Board of Directors, and that Pitino must be allowed to “present evidence” in his defense over that 10-day span. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.066273a289fd |

Pitino wasn't fired. He was put on unpaid administrative leave by an interim university president that's trying to make a name for himself. Pitino said, through his attorney, he'll fight this tooth and nail. He's guaranteed $44 million from the university no matter what. It could get interesting.

They have to do proper procedures to make sure they aren't on the hook for that 44 mil. It takes days for that to happen; Pitino will be officially fired by the end of next week.
When he gets slapped with a show cause, any chance of that money vanishes. Louisville just has to take a little time to make sure all the i's are dotted and t's crossed. |

fired because he brought in too much money for the university. The university president and board of regents signed off on the deal with Adidas because it put money in their pockets in a big way. They are complicit in this entire deal. They act now as if "it's him, not us!" |

I don't care about Louisville or Pitino, but the wording by the interim president that he's been put on "administrative leave" instead of "fired" makes me think they don't have a complete grasp on Pitino's contract.

You know what, I don't give a ****. College basketball season is about to start.
They can indict whomever, even Bill Self (and I'm a KU fan), but let's just roll on. They ain't going to cancel games, and this shit does need to be cleaned up. So, let's go! Rock Chalk Jayhawks!

Not been following this story. Can a guy get a bullet point or two on what he did?
On a more important note, I sure hope Self has kept his program clean. This shit always eventually comes out.
