No, fouling immediately with a worse shooter would have been the best way to employ that strategy. Who said differently?

duh my entire point was premised on the fact they waited 15 seconds once the shot clock hit 20 and the ball was at midcourt ... you don't ****ing foul ... you play for a stop |

No, the fact that they waited 15 seconds doesn't mean letting them kill off any more time makes any sense. Having the ball with 10 seconds left at this level down by 3 (which would have been the best case scenario) is a horrible situation to be in.

that would not have been the best case scenario
more like 13-17 seconds 10 would have been had they waited until about .5 on the shot clock and chucked a three and I'd rather be down 3 with 10 seconds then down 5 with 25 seconds |

That would be boring and would remove the upsets that make everyone who doesn't root for the blue-bloods start caring in March. They'd kill the golden goose by doing that.

Creating several more possessions and hoping for a Duke mistake was really the only chance they had. |

Get rid of the bullshit cash grabs that are conference tournaments, eliminate non sense scheduling like Duke taking on the previous D-2 champs or Kentucky v Coppin State and make every D-1 conference play a round robin schedule. Each conference gets to send one team as the representative to the NCAA championship which will consist of five or six best-of-three series against other conference champions.

50/50 shot?!
Since when do any college teams score on 50% of their possessions? Not only that, but Duke is going to isolate their ball handler up top and inevitably settle for a pull up three to kill clock ... so I'd say they had around a 70-75% shot of getting the ball back in a 1 possession game ASSUMING they get the rebound well, probably more like 65% |

and I guarantee you THAT gave them a much higher winning % than fouling ****ing J.J. Redick, Jr. at midcourt with 25 seconds left down 3

Maybe, maybe not. It's not like there wouldn't be huge upsets with just the major conference teams in a single elimination tournament. The key thing, though, would be getting a full share of the money and not having it go through an entity like the NCAA.
