I may be wrong but I think there is supposed to be a significant increase in the cap next year.

We will also drop a lot of money hitting our cap such as the eleventy billion that Uric's contract is taking up this year.

If Andy Reid is the QB guru some of you claim he is, it shouldn't be that difficult for him to groom a young guy and start using that cost savings to help us lock up other young playmakers.
First, I don't claim Reid's a QB guru. Second, when it comes to QBs, you shouldn't be using the word rational, because you're insane on the issue.

Ed Podalak had one spectaacular game in his career, and is remembered quite fondly by fans that saw it.

The problem is that he really was nothing special.
He basically did yeoman's work throughout his career, but is remembered as better than he was because of that one shining moment.

That Colt playoff game could well be Smith's one shining moment, and now he could go back to being that yeoman's work QB he's been.

Great story except that it hasn't been his one shining moment.

You have a hell of a short memory but you are old so thats to be expected.

I'm old enough to have watched him play many times (season tickets), and I don't remember it this way at all. He was quite popular at the time, and not due to just one game. He may not have been great, but he was well liked at the time.

You seem to have forgotten about his other playoff game against the Saints...299 yds 3TDs, 28 yds rushing 1 TD.

We'll be parting with a lot of players to clear cap room.

But in general, don't expect the Chiefs to ever be active in free agency as long as John Dorsey is at the helm. That's not how the Packers operated, and it's getting to be pretty clear that's not how the Chiefs are going to operate.

It appears to be a shitty strategy right now when we lack depth at a bunch of positions and about half of our starting players just aren't in the league's top half at their position. But an actual foundation needs to be had before we can seriously get offers going for key players that can help the team take the next step.

And I'm not necessarily advocating this method. I'm just explaining what it is.

In the playoffs Smith has 9 TDs and no picks.

Doesn't mean he played great in every game, but it tells me he seems to raise his game once there. I'll take that.

We didn’t see Houston report, but a source just told me Houston “is in” camp. Nothing to worry about, folks. #Chiefs

No, actually, I haven't.

But two games, and a handful of plays along the way, are the outliers.

He was a good solid workman like player, and he was popular, but he wasn't nearly as good as some, like you, fondly remember.
