SI : Chiefs have a problem and his name is Dwayne Bowe
His performance so far this season has been underwhelming. He is in a position to clock in his worst performance in the NFL so far and is projecting to have 54 receptions for 586 yards w/6TD.
Is his problem that defenses are keying in on him... or is it that, as suggested by Greg Bedard, that Bowe has lost a step and is no longer a top tier WR? http://mmqb.si.com/2013/10/11/greg-b...preview-notes/ Quote:

google is your friend asshat
FTR you really have few things football related to say that make real sense, this is another one of those posts for you. a quick slant is not a "timing route". the reason we call them timing routes is because sometimes it involves a double move and some players run different, their breaks are different, so it requires a bit of known established timing to know exactly when to release the ball. a quick slant doesn't require timing any more than a swing pass or any other short pass.

The QB makes a pre-snap read, takes a single step(1 1/2 technically, i guess) drop and throws the ball to a spot BEFORE the WR is open or has reached that spot.
TIMING The WR can't just decide at the last second to change the route because the QB has already committed to the route. Bowe made a mistake and you're wrong ... just let it go.

Don't see an issue with Bowe. He'll get his in due time. Last game Titans were playing man and he still got it a few times and got one that was a break away that was called out of bounds. Bogus call IMO.

Cassel had his issues but he was a decent intermediate passer in 2010. Alex has not reached that level of game manager yet.

Andy Reid has said that Bowe is doing a much better job in blocking. Perhaps that has cut his energy level.

Ball control offense, limited turnovers, strong defense, takeaways win superbowls. Alex Smith is perfectly suited to run a ball control offense which is all we need. Eli is better suited to be a game manager himself, you have to love his big play ability. But at the same time you have to love alex smith not turning the ball over. You'd like to see him throw it long more but its not neccesary if he can keep the ball moving with short passes unless jamal charles becomes a non factor. And even then when you have a defense who gets takeaways like ours and can score points off turnovers its even more irrelevant lol. You have to be excited about this team if you look at recent history how superbowls are won, most of the ingredients are there. I'm more worried about us being unbalanced under Alexs limitations,we should focus running the ball more early since the qb doesn't stretch the field vertically. If we had a eli we could stretch the field vertically first to set up the run. But Jamal hasn't shown he's needed any assistance from the qb to stretch the field for him to get his so far in his career,he just needs to get his rhythm. Alex smith on the other hand I think has shown running to set up the pass will increase his ability. |

Again, if I had to pick my QB for the current Chiefs, it wouldn't be Rodgers or Peyton. It would be Eli or Flacco. I don't care if I get drilled for saying that. Efficient QBs are WILDLY underrated in this league. And no, you don't have to surround these guys with elite players. You have to have a good RB, and a solid defense. Yeah, if your front office is filled with buffoons that can't do that, then go with a guy like Peyton and make him win in spite of horrible talent. But if you have a halfway decent front office, then put an elite game manager on your team and you'll have a very competitive team. |

Too many others are CERTAIN he can't, or will absolutely need to at the very moment we face elimination. And in that certainty, they shit in the swimming pool, incessantly, daily, hourly, with insults and vitriol to boot, while most of us would like to enjoy a nice day.
