Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

Good points. I still don't see how they'd be able to take a fortress guarded by an army of armored knights though. Maybe they have some weapons/tactics that aren't shown on the show.. I mean, do they have shields? Battering rams? Would they be willing to don small amounts of armor to protect from arrows at least? Would they man warships on the river? |

It's probably a fools' errand to apply real-life strategies to Game of Thrones, but forging on nonetheless, I would imagine they'd land anywhere but Blackwater Bay. The Dothraki horsemen used to semi-arid wasteland would love the rich grasslands of central Westeros, and they could recruit and build siege weapons to their heart's desire. That amount of self-sufficient horsemen could annihilate almost any force sent against them in record time, especially if they were reinforced with Unsullied and - dear Lord - dragons.
Which brings to mind another tactical advantage: Castles are not built to defend against aerial threats. |

Le dragons.
Drogon is big as shit and he's probably like a preteen as far as dragon years are concerned. So are they going to come over in time to **** up some White Walkers or what? Dragons vs snow zombies? **** YEAH! |

Do you guys think the "You know nothing Jon Snow" comment was the red priest channeling Ygritte's spirit or was it a coincidence? I think she may have channeled her, for the purpose of exploiting Jon's feelings to convince him to ride on winterfell with Stanis.

I think it was just a way of showing Jon that she sees everything in her fire. She knows his secrets. And she wants him to know that.

That was an excellent scene, probably the best of that episode. And you're right, that likely sealed his fate.

I'd be good with that.
In the books, iirc, his wife was kind of a whiny, sniveling woman. Had that spoiled feel about her, and she CLEARLY didn't want to be at the Wall. In the show, she seems to be just mean spirited and conniving in a way. Somewhat curious to where they take her in the show. |

I'm not sure Stannis could die with Melisandre around.
