Peacock exclusive playoff game is stupid

Bad move by the league. Quit being greedy and keeping your customers from watching your product.

Surely they wont put Mahomes in that game but who knows.

I think it sucks and is plain old greed like every company has. I live here so as long I can get it for nothing then whatever. If I couldn't then hit the casino bar or regular bar.

Hmm, do we know if this will happen again?

I just dropped the stupid NFL+, which I had to buy for the Germany game, but it came with NFL Network. I'd pick it up again for a day if I could hide from the live game on stupid peacock and watch an hour later.

That's the part I don't get. Just offer a free view and then hawk the hell out of your best content.

Certainly, you aren't saying that you are a better fan because another fan doesn't want to pay for another streaming service? Are you saying that because that exactly what it sounds like. The small amount doesn't matter. The idea that games should move to PPV is only born out of a radio/TV company's greediness to further nickel and dime the consumer.

Nah, fam. I'm not that stupid or desperate for a corporation to make me think I'm actually going to miss out on something if I don't pay to see a sporting event. If that makes me less of a fan in your eyes, oh well. That only means something to you, certainly not me.
I'm just saying that I couldn't intentionally choose to not watch a playoff game live, especially when you're just doing it out of principle.

Maybe your approach is far different than mine, but even if I'm not watching games with a group, I've got a half dozen people texting me, I'm on ChiefsPlanet and Twitter, etc. And there is absolutely zero chance that I'd be able to make it to the next day without having the ending spoiled. It would completely ruin the entire experience of football for me, and it's hard for me to understand how it wouldn't do the same for others.

There are other ways to watch it without paying. I know you know this. Call it the easiest protest you ever did.

The amount of time/effort spent searching for other streams… or just pay the damn $5.99 and cancel later.

You are missing the entire point. Yes, it is a bit of a pain in the ass when you could just pay the $5.99. But the point is to maybe put yourself out just a little bit(it isn't that hard) and hopefully they will not try this shit in the future.

OK, so maybe YouTubeTV.

Peacock now has 31 million subscribers. They are making it without the NFL, they are just trying to bring people in to boost their subscriptions. If you don't watch other sports, then keep finding pirated streams. I have done that and it is a pain in the a$$ in addition to poor quality streams and having to fight them trying to put malware, etc on my network/systems.

This playoff game has more than paid for itself in free advertising. All of the people whining on social media just makes it a better investment. The number of people who are willing to pay $6 to watch a game they would have to pay hundreds of dollars to see in person far outnumbers those who won't pay the $6.

I have it. I pay for it because the Big 12 forces me to and because it was cheaper for me to do all 3 (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+) than it was for me to do it the way I was doing it before. But I'm not happy about it. I despise ESPN+ and everything about it. I will buy a lifetime subscription to Peacock Super + Extreme (or whatever the non ad version is called) if ESPN+ dies a painful death never to return.

They've got a few good shows that I wish I could watch other places. The Office & Parks & Rec being 2 of them.

I recently watched the entire series of parks and rec on Philo. It plays on some channel, IFC, so you can watch anytime with ads or click save and when the shows are actually airing you can then go back watch without ads (for a few weeks or maybe more not sure) with one click commercial skipping.
