Is anybody else starting to notice an uptick in Amazon getting a tad shifty with their "Prime" definition?
I ordered a golf driver for my son Saturday, very much clicked the "Amazon Prime" refinement option, and thought it was odd that it might not get here until next week. There wasn't anything that said it was out of stock (which should simply result in nothing showing up, but I'd take red/bolded text warning you that they're currently out of stock!!), but no, only that the arrive date won't be until next week. The trick they seem to be playing is the "Usually ships within x-y days" and "Note: Not eligible for Amazon Prime. Available with free Prime shipping from..." part that I swear you don't see until later. I suppose I might be missing something, some fine print , when I'm making the actual purchase, but I've already seen a LOT more trouble on Amazon with non-Prime purchases as compared to eBay - they don't seem to monitor their resellers like eBay has to - and now I feel like they're slipping more and more tricks into their process, and I don't like it. Unless it's just me, I'm thinking of suggesting that they have a refinement that actually means "Amazon Prime" (meaning "in stock" and "will be at your door two full business days from when you click your mouse")... |

I had the same issue trying to order a driver. It seems like the default shaft flex/loft angle combination is prime eligible, but changing either component removes the prime eligibility

Two things I can think of: 1. Could be a third party; or 2. They might consider this one of the "large items," which takes longer to process. I don't think it's No. 2. |

I think T-Town got it. In my son's case his swing speed is 105-109, so I altered the shaft from regular to stiff. The key was I had selected "Prime", so I was thinking it would stick, or at least warn me that I was changing. It's all good, a week's not going to kill him, he has a pretty OK driver that'll work for another week. Some day maybe I'll get new clubs! But I'm pretty sure my issue isn't my clubs! |

The Senior shaft is eligible because, while it's sold by a third party, it's fulfilled by Amazon. So the seller has shipped the item to Amazon so they are responsible for fulfillment. |

In the end it doesn't really matter, but just there's one little twist to its "Prime'ness" should mean the best part(s) of "Prime" are left out of the mix. So Amazon needs to make sure that when people click "Prime", they only see stuff that'll get to their house in two days, or make even more levels of selectiveness. They're kicking eBay's ass, but shit like this will let eBay back into the game! |
