The buyout on Kris Medlen's mutual option is strange. The $1MM buyout on the mutual option is guaranteed no matter which side declines. That is usually not the case, the buyout is normally triggered only if the team declines.

edit: I have also never seen a contract this large where the performance incentives are larger than the guarantee.
