The playoff bonus is a really huge deal for someone like Gore, especially considering that there's no guarantee he'll actually make it. He needs to save that money.

I think the Royals see him as an asset for the short term window, so once this season is over, I'm sure they will want to resign him (I don't know of Gore's contract status is) and send him back down to the minors to redefine his hitting, or work on his bunting and whatever else they feel that he needs worked on.

And if the Royals are in the playoff hunt in 2015, I have no doubt he'll be back on the Royals roster in September.

Still can't believe this is happening, guys.

Work is going to be brutal tomorrow... waiting for the 4:30 meetup to head out to the K.

Really need Shields to put up a big start tomorrow... If the Royals can manage to take Game 1 with Bumgarner on the hill, they're in complete control of the series, and I honestly think things could be over before Bumgarner's next turn (unless the Giants use him on 3 days rest, of course).

Gore will have at least 3 option years and possibly 4 option years. The way it works is kind of weird, but basically you get a 4th option year if the player never spends 90 days on the active MLB roster (or 60 days + 30 on the DL).

They won't have to re-sign him. He'll sit at the minor league level until September each of the next 2-3 years.

That's what I kind of figured, but I didn't know much of his minor league/mlb contract situation was, so I couldn't really say much, other than that I do hope that the Royals will do what you mentioned about having him sit in the minor league level until September.

Plus, he is only 23, and he did come from a A+ level to AAA, to MLB in a short period of time, so....

I suspect he'll go back to either A or AA next season.

Going to the Chiefs/Rams game on Sunday and realized that is Game 5 of the WS is that night. So we are gonna go somewhere to watch it. Anyone know if they are going to open the K for the road games watch parties, if not, I guess ill just hit up P&L.
