Before Mahomes the Chiefs won four playoff games in my lifetime. He’s taken this team to as many SBs as they had playoff wins during that same span. Two more wins and he will have 4x the wins. Never in a million years did I ever expect this, and I started watching (or listening) to them in the early to mid 80s).

Prior to Mahomes (including the Dawson years) our playoff record was 9-18. Now it's 23-21. It's really hard to wrap your mind around that.

Reminder that Spags has said that Chenal is pound for pound the strongest player on the team. He's gonna be important for stopping their run game.

It is. The Dawson years were before my time. Nothing like a 14-3 playoff record (currently) to right that ship.

I know the current trajectory is magical so let’s do a little math and say Pat has a decade left in him. He’s on pace to move that record to 46-26. Averages 2.83 playoff games a season and wins 82% of them. That’s 23-5 over the next decade. lol just silly projections that could come true

I was alive at the time of the first two Super Bowls, but was an infant during the first and four during the second. I have no memory of either of them. All I remember prior to Pat was pain, a couple of good years with Montana that ended in pain, and then two decades of more ****ing pain.

I only knew Dawson from the Chiefs radio broadcast. Dawson won AFL championships (3), won a SUPERBOWL and had an 5-3 playoff record. He was a BEAST. Probably 10x the QB that Joe Namath was.

Namath is criminally overrated. Nobody else in the league ever got so much mileage out of a single game.

(he didn't even deserve the MVP from that game)

He got mileage out of a drunk interview he did. Not the rapey one he did with Kolberg, mind you.

That's good and bad. Imagine little me at 9 watching him beat the vikings as a huge underdog and getting hooked on the Chiefs. Then having to wait another 50 years to see another SB win. I should get to bang the drum. Or at least get invited to Taylor's SB suite.

I wish Lenny still had been doing the radio broadcasts when Pat had taken over. It would have been so fun to listen to him describe what Pat was doing.

Maybe, but at the time and being a young Chief fan the disdain I remember for the AFL made me root for him. He called the NFL out and it happened.

Then I did my part. I started boycotting the NFL unless the Chiefs were involved in the game. That seems to have got the NFL’s attention. For instance, I didn’t see Brady’s miracle comeback because I was boycotting. It seems to have worked, the NFL listened, we are winning and now i am watching.
