Will the Big X be left out of the playoff again this year?

The Big X as we know has been hamstrung by not having a conference championship game and by only having 10 teams, and with Baylor's loss this weekend, the Big X now has only one undefeated team left - Oklahoma State, who is due to face two top 10 teams in the next two weeks.

Will the Big X be without an argument to put a team in the playoff again this season, when they end up with multiple 1-loss teams and no way to differentiate them?

If the Big 12 had a CCG last year, more than likely TCU or Baylor are in the Playoff.

Granted, Okie State has a tougher argument to make this year, but they would at least have a chance with a CCG.

And add in the fact that it makes more money for the Big 12 by having a CCG....

Don't really understand why the Big 12 doesn't want to play one???

I'm sure the Big 12 higher ups are praying hard for an OU win today, so that they don't have to address this again . . . . .
Okie might have a decent argument, but I doubt the committee lets them in. Outside OU these teams just aren't deserving of a Playoff spot.

As for CCG, we've discussed that to death. If OU wins today it helps the League so they'd only be encouraged not to have a CCG. As for $.....it would cost them to have one. Bringing in 2 extra mouths to feed cuts the guaranteed payout for the 10 schools. So they don't do it.

Oh I'm all for making 4 super conferences with 16 teams I'm it, than have an 8 team playoff.

So the greed of the individual schools outweighs what is best for the conference? And how do you figure the conference would lose money having a championship game with the way money flows for college football games?

It has to get to an 8 team playoff somehow. I firmly believe the current set up is just the first step toward that. People will still bitch about their team being left out but it won't matter.

Wouldn't ND jump a Big 10 team if Iowa loses? I would think the NCAA and networks want Bama, ND and OU in the playoffs. Having arguably the 3 greatest programs in CFB history in the playoffs would be a hell of a sale.

B1G, SEC, et al do NOT lose $ on ccg. Nor did B1G lose $ by expanding. They expanded so they could get ccg.

True but irrelevant to the Big 12.

Not having the extra game is like a contestant betting $0 in final jeopardy and just hoping everyone else gets it wrong.

IMHO the biggest challenge to XII expanding would be to find available quality schools they wanted to invite.

How do you define quality?

Houston and Louisville. That should be the two they chase.

Why would Louisville leave the ACC?

They likely wouldn't, those are just the first two I'd ask. However, I'm not so sure the Big XII-ish is interested in city schools, anyway.

If OU or Okie gets into the playoff, all this discussion will be moot.
