To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime
Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...


Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

I've also noted that any number of my neighbors are looking at going with Goggle Fiber's $0 option (one time cost of $300 for the hookup), and just using their Fire Stick/TV.

Interesting to say the least... It's no Gig up/down, but it's a HELL of a lot more than they get today, and they just don't watch too much TV, and can find another solution for a phone (if they need one).

It'll be interesting to see how that plays-out.

I used Google Fiber's free service for many months before upgrading to the Gigabit service. It was perfectly fine for streaming everything. In HD too. Never had any issues.

I just got a TaylorMade Burner Hybrid club for $60.. I'm sure I could find cheaper if I tried, but I'm pretty sure I might not get it for weeks too! But I'm PISSED that I'm getting it FROM Amazon.com (the Amazon store!!) and IT'S NOT A TWO-DAY DEAL! Shit! I hope it's here by Friday, I have guy-golf club on Saturday!

But I've got to tell you, I've found some things at CostCo that made me say "SHIT!!!!!!!!!" after I bought them on Prime. But I'm NOT going to go to CostCo just to check the price!

But yeah, 99 times out of a 100, you're doing well at Prime...
