Tipping for services...
Not like restaurant tipping for the waiter, but tipping gardeners, postman, house cleaners, etc. Do you do it, and generally how much?

This is the first year we've paid a guy to handle our lawn. It's a business, but he's the only guy doing it. What's appropriate? Is cash preferred, or is a personal gift (wine, homemade goodies, or something) better?

Well I think since the class action law suit they have raised what they pay for mileage. NPC lost that suit and had to pay each participant...I believe around 5k for reimbursement not paid. I think they get paid by the mile now, but no sure. I do know it was bullshit and I quit because of it. I am positive they make less than $5/hr though.

Nah. I'm kidding. I've been tipped twice in 13 years. Once was like $1200 for me and $600 for my employees on a $40k project. The other time was like $150 on a $2000 house painting project. Strangely, it was the first house I ever painted.
