Andy Reid on Mike & Mike: "Alex is our quarterback by the way"

Don't want to read too much into the conversation but just watched Andy on M&M this morning and he made it clear that Alex was the QB. Mentioned that he could still play, was at the Pro Bowl (), and can do all the things he wants his guy to do.

In essence, we can put any talk of Tony Romo, Nick Foles, or any other retread to bed. But, they did talk about college system QBs briefly (no one specific), and he said that as long as they feel like a guy can learn, it is their job to transition a college system QB and that it doesn't effect their decision on which type to take.

So, will we draft a QB? Idk, my bet is on yes since Foles is apparently gone.

It's fine to have a QB with flaws, or even one who is struggling.

What would be nice is to have one with the potential to get better and the talent to have a high ceiling.

That's what we haven't had in quite some time.

Or like, ever.

I'm guessing a large portion of our fan base would trade positions with the Bucs and Titans right now, even though neither team made the playoffs.

I think Alex is fine for this year maybe even next as long as we draft a QBOTF this year. Its frustrating that they have already passed on some and it makes you wonder if they will ever do what the Chiefs never do. The other part of me is saying well every year the chiefs have improved. Yes they have lost in the divisional round two years in a row but I think the team has improved every year. More wins, a division title, a higher seed. Everything suggest they will be better next year. Especially with another draft and guy's back from injury.

It's way overdue.
The playoff game against he Ravens in January 2011 wrecked my desire to be a hardcore fan and have season tickets. Getting a legit QB prospect (preferably in the first round) is step one if I am ever to consider getting tickets again (not that Clark is busily scanning for conformation from me, but you get what I'm saying).

It has been 34 years since we've taken a first round QB, and 47 since we've won it all. Correlation, perhaps?

Next he'll tell you he was one of the few who never gave up on the 2015 Chiefs when in reality he was caught saying otherwise and outed.

The mediocre placeholders? Those guys are gone by 35 and why the samples for quarterbacks in their late 30s are going to be pretty good.

This is going to be an outstanding example of selection bias.

The issue is no longer how much he's being paid.

It's to make sure he is not paid one thin dime beyond the 2017 season.

If Alex Smith "earns" another extension, god help this team.
