I don't think we know enough to say they're going back to the well with anything. Hundreds of rumors have already been proven false, which makes it kind of hard to consider any leak credible, and for as much as they show in the trailers they don't actually reveal all that much. And any reveal we think they have given us at this point could be a red herring. I get the poster looking like a death star, but that doesn't in any way mean starkiller base isn't its own new and unique thing.

I agree...and I think it is great. The trailers are great...they don't reveal too much and they build anticipation and excitement.

I'm just holding out hope that JJ doesn't have a seen with Kylo meeting Luke...

Kylo: You are my father.
Luke: Noooooooo!

After STID I wouldn't put it past him. So the new death star blows up stars instead of planets. Yay new.

Anyway, I'm stoked for the movie and open to pretty much anything. Luke can do whatever he wants as far as I'm concerned. There is no Jedi order. Hell, maybe Kylo is part Ewok because Luke enjoyed some glub glub at the after party. Daisy is actually morning the death of uncle wicket?

The question is how they use it. JJ has already said it is the new, advanced death star. How they use it could be new and awesome. Or not. Don't know yet. Still excited to see the movie. As you already pointed out, any leak lacks credibility. This goes both ways in that it is hard to definitively shoot down many rumors as well.

Just waiting to see, and keeping my excitement tempered.

It doesn't have to be revealed in this film, just like it wasn't revealed that Obi Wan took Luke and watched over him on Tatooine for 20 years until the third (sixth) film, ROTJ.

JJ has already revealed that the Starkiller base is a planet of its own, capable of destroying an entire solar system. It's definitely more powerful than either of the Death Stars created under the Emperor and Vader.

The only thing that bums me out is that if I recall correctly (and it's been years, so my memory may be off) is that Luke found a kid named Kip, who had off-the-charts Force ability (he used some kind of "Force divining rod" if memory serves). Luke trains him to be a Jedi but the kid ends up turning to the Dark Side and steals a weapon called the Sun Crusher, in which he destroys an entire solar system. He eventually turns back to the "Light Side", IIRC.

Considering the Inquisitors made their first appearance in "The Courtship of Princess Leia" (which is an awful book, BTW) and they've gone back to the well with McQuarrie's original sketches for Rebels, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Abrams and Kasdan lifted elements from the EU for Episode VII and beyond.

I seriously doubt it'll happen but it would be cool if Supreme Leader Snoke was a Chiss.

Kyp Durron if I remember right.

No reason to use cg if snoke is just chiss. The maybe/not credible word is that he's huge and reptilian.

Yeah, that's it, Kyp Durron. It's been a long time since I read those books.

You're probably right about Snoke but it would have been fun. I read the Andy Serkis quote about being "very tall" so that in itself rules out a Chiss, if he's being truthful.

It would be far more interesting, IMO, if he was a new villain that was completely outside the family tree, much like Darth Maul.

I love that race... but the fact that there is a vaguely shellfish/aquatic race that takes its name from the Terran Italian name for squid is just...
