What are the chances we get the 3rd back or reduced down? I just have a feeling it will stick as Clark will grin and bare it so as not to upset the league. I hope I am wrong but League hit us hard and wear it really hurt the third. I actually thought we might go QB in first then CB and DL 2-3. Now it almost has to be CB. Completely changes our direction in draft I think.

Yeah I saw that posted earlier but its legalese from team lawyers. I wonder how hard they pursue when they look over the facts the league presents them with. Having the phone records looks bad.

I think it comes down to the two bullet points from that paragraph:

1) Penalties proposed in this case are inconsistent with discipline enforced in similar matters

2) League has been inconsistent in communication of its policies on contact with potential free agents

Denver never actually cheated the salary cap by the leagues own statement at the time. We didn't cheat. We didn't break a written rule. The league didn't like what we were doing. The players were paid immediately and we got our new stadium. At no time did we get extra players or different players or other wise tamper with another teams players you dirty stinking cheaters. How can you live with yourselves still wearing the yellow and red?

nah...there is a full on NFL handbook on player, owner, and coach/FO conduct. Every major corporation has one.

This penalty is designed to get Denver back into contention quickly.

I've seen remarks from national football writers that not only believe it was excessive but that it was downright stupid to levy a fine at the Chiefs when teams engage in this activity every year.

The Chiefs will win on appeal.

The NFL Front Office needs to clearly define their penalties, not make them up as they go because it's become a gigantic, embarrassing cluster****.
