Tom Brady; least clutch QB in NFL history?

(Slow day at work for me, guys):

Tom Brady:

2005: Gets crushed by Jake Plummer and the Denver Broncos. Plays HORRENDOUSLY. Embarrassingly bad.

2006: Blows an 18 point lead to Peyton Manning in the AFCCG. Plays horrendously, and ends the game in Indy territory throwing a game ending INT to Marlon Jackson. Great clutch play.

2007: 18-1. Scores 14 points in the Super Bowl in a game they are favored to win by 13.5. Also, in the AFCCG against the Chargers, he posted a QB rating of 18 and threw 3 INT's. Very clutch, I know.

2008: KNEE CRUSHER; Cassel wins 11 games as starting QB.

2009: Gets OBLITERATED by Joe Flacco and the Ravens. Loses the game single-handedly in the 1st quarter and posts a WHOPPING QBR OF 4.2. Not a typo. FOUR POINT TWO. FOUR POINT TWO. In reference, Peyton posted a 24.4 last year against Seattle in the Super Bowl. So picture how bad that performance was, and multiply it by about 25.

2010: Lost @ home to MARK SANCHEZ AND THE JETS. But don't worry guys, Tom Brady doubled his QBR in this one and posted a respectable 8.7 EIGHT POINT SEVEN.

2011: Got to the Super Bowl by beating Tim Tebow, playing HORRENDOUSLY against the Ravens (again) in the Lee Evans game, and then overthrowing Welker to lose another Super Bowl. Clutch.

2012: Got obliterated by Joe Flacco and the Ravens despite being favored by 7. He posted a respectable 40 QBR, though, and only lost by 15 ... despite Peyton beating the team the week before only to be Rahim Moore'd. Great clutch play.

2013: Beat Andrew Luck despite throwing 0 TD's. Lost to Peyton Manning, while playing another mediocre game. 1 TD. Very clutch, Mr. Brady!

So, in short, the biggest playoff choking QB in the NFL right now is Tom Brady. In all of those aforementioned choke jobs, he was favored to lose TWICE, both to Peyton Manning (both losses).

Any more myths you want be to bust?

4.2 QBR and 8.7 QBR is Rex Grossman bad, in case anyone wanted a reference point.

No, let's take away Peyton's BEST postseasons. He becomes 3-10.

Your cherrypicking of stats is pretty freaking comical.

It has been 10 ****ing years since Brady, who is always a favorite in the playoffs, has won a Super Bowl. And in those 10 years, the Patriots transformed from a TOTAL TEAM to Tom Brady FEATURING the New England Patriots. Since that transformation, he's come up short every time. Every time. These are facts.

There is no shred of evidence available that suggests Peyton Manning is a choker and Tom Brady is not a choker. None.

Over the past 10 years, Peyton Manning has been the better postseason QB than Tom Brady. The games represent fact in this regard.

I have a tough time giving Tom Brady, the game manager, from over a decade ago any leash in this argument because A) spygate and B) it was a ****ing decade ago. His first Super Bowl he accounted for 1 TD, missed the AFCCG, got the benefit of the tuck rule, and watched Vinatieri transform into the GOD of kickers.

One of Peyton Manning's postseason losses against Pittsburgh saw him drive his team into field goal range to tie the game and go into OT ... out comes Vanderjagt ... and he pushes the ball about 80 yards right and they lose.

That's a Manning choke? That's a Manning one and done?

Wow. Must've been nice seeing your kicker knocking down game tying field goals in 5 feet of snow from 50 yards out.

Meanwhile, in other arguments, you try to lord all of Manning's stats over Brady's, ignoring that Manning has played a full THREE MORE YEARS than Brady, and had far better offensive weapons.

Your thread is dumb, and your argument is weak. Let's just say this -- the question you asked in your thread title is this:

"TOM BRADY; LEAST CLUTCH QB IN NFL HISTORY?"

Do you honestly think the answer to that is yes?

He threw 6 passes (one of them looked like intentional grounding, wasn't outside the tackle box). 3 to running backs, 1 to a TE, 1 to a receiver (thank God), and 1 out of bounds.

and then, of course, Vinatieri nails a 49 yard field goal.

That looked like a god damn Alex Smith drive.
Which Super Bowl pick six of Manning's should I post as a display of how "clutch" he is?

250 posts and still no one has acknowledged the OP.

Brady has had a decade worth of bad playoff losses with no Super Bowls and no one is willing to acknowledge them but me.

See what I'm saying about "free passes."

I'm looking forward to the #1 seeded Patriots losing before the Super Bowl this year so I can hear what excuse Brady will get this year.

"Well, they were the #1 seed but they weren't the best team. Just too many flaws! It's ok, Brady still had a clutch 3rd down throw in the 2nd quarter!"

If the Oline plays like it was mid-season, then we go to the SB, and I think we beat anyone except Seattle, who I think will run the table.

If the OLine plays like last Sunday, we might squeak by whoever we get in the first round, but we aren't going terribly far.

Meanwhile, looks like Manning is completely done, unless he's hurt somehow and can recover in the offseason. The last month or so have been pretty ugly, and last night was a very bad crash and burn.

Show the drive where Brady had a shot to redeem himself after blowing an 18 point lead to manning in the AFCCG where all he needed was a TD, gets to Indy territory, and throws a clutch interception to lose the game.

Have the Patriots won a Super Bowl since 2004? Did I forget one? Did Spygate not happen?

I hope manning is done. Brady gets no excuses if they lose. None. #1 seed.

But this thread has been excellent. It shows how uncomfortable this board is looking at 10 years of Brady playoff failure and all anyone can do is point to things that happened in 2001, 2002 and 2004 while totally forgetting about Spygate. Amazing. 10 years of playoff choking swept under the rug.

errr...why? I don't remember arguing anywhere that Brady was perfect. He isn't, wasn't, never was, never will be, and would say so himself.

But, just so I'm clear, this was the Patriots team that had an about-to-retire Troy Brown and Reche Caldwell as starting WRs, and Daniel "stonehands" Graham and rookie "godlike measurables but mediocre play" Ben Watson at TE, right?

That isn't how it works, but whatever you say buddy.

There's nothing uncomfortable about this thread. If you had any self-awareness at all of how ridiculous you look, you might feel uncomfortable, but you don't, so we're all good.

Look, there's no argument about anything worth talking about here. We all agree Brady hasn't won a SB in 10 years. We can also agree that Brady owns damn near every playoff record worth owning when it comes to winning, and Manning has EIGHT one and dones.

So you can try to cherry pick whatever you want, and argue whatever you want, but you just end up looking stupid.

Almost as stupid as your "is Rodgers overrated?" thread. Almost as stupid as all the other times you try to torpedo some great quarterback to build the resume and love, or whatever, for your buttbuddy Manning. Manning's career appears to be over. At least you can be thankful for the miracle comback against the Patriots in 2006, or he'd be retiring -- Marino-like -- as a truly great quarterback with NO Super Bowls.

But, like Brees and Rodgers, he has one. One-third of Brady's, of course, but still, at least he has ONE!

You had to add in another excuse to end that one, eh?

They were up 18 points.

...but I realize Brady gets an excuse for every postseason loss

At least Manning has one with no *

Brady has 3 ***

but hey, you've conveniently already built in excuses for when Brady loses this postseason with the #1 seed

I've learned that they can't beat Seattle, so there is built in excuse #1

and when they do lose in the AFC, it'll be because the offensive line didn't block well enough for Brady (built in excuse #2).

So I look forward to another year of Brady failing in the playoffs and I already know why they lost!!! Because the offensive line.

Must be nice to be Tom Brady. Remember, he can't throw it, catch it and block for himself at the same time! Amiright?!?!

Personally, I think neither Denver nor New England represents the AFC this year.

However, you are setting yourself for a long CP hiatus because Peyton Manning gets a BYE, and has to win 1 time (assuming the Pats win) to get New England in Foxboro.

and if Denver beats New England ... you may as well just not log on here for a few months and make sure they are ready to ban me over at PatsPlanet again...

because there will be no excuse for Tom Terrific losing to a washed up Manning @ Home this year ... because, like you said, Manning is done.
