So, I didn't see a thread started, and all the others are pretty maxed out to the point where a fresh thread would be needed soon either way.

Time to share the run up to ST & and another memorable year in the making!

Be honest, at the beginning of the year, who would have thought that Wade Davis out of the bullpen under his current contract would be worth more than Wil Myers?

The Rays giving up on Myers makes me wonder if he doesn't have a prima donna streak to him that leaves him uncoachable.

The one inning makeup game was the turning point IMO. We were going balls to the wall, and it worked incredibly well. We had no chance of winning that game, but we almost did. It would absolutely suck playing against our team when we play that way.

Look at the Orioles board... They hated every second of it. Having to scratch and claw for every hit...knowing that a bloop single could turn into a triple...having 6 innings to stockpile runs knowing that you aren't getting anything after that...would be torture.

I don't know if we could maintain it for a full season, but if we can and our FA's can give us a little pop, we're going to be better next year.
I could be wrong here, but wasn't that just a product of playing important baseball in September/October?

I mean, I don't think we stumbled onto anything new, we just went into September/October mode, right? Teams play a bit differently in September/October, as compared to the dog days. You don't play that way ALL year.

(could be wrong. being laser-focused on baseball during football season was new for me)

To me, Dyson should be getting pretty regular starts against right-handers, and be a very late pinch runner for Morales on off days in close games (during the dog days)/

Cashner is a possibility, though he doesn't have a lot of years of control remaining.

The Padres have a pretty loaded system, including a good catch-and-throw guy (Austin Hedges) who would make sense for Tampa.

Not so much without the split-change Alex Cobb taught him, which completely changed his MLB profile.

He's not the same pitcher in KC as he has become in Tampa.

Is it that hard for the dipshits in our organization to learn how to throw pitches like Alex Cobb? For the freaking life of me I'll never understand

In July last year Forbes noted 44/225 players making over $5m were in negative WAR territory. And how players over 30 cannot be trusted

You played baseball. You pitched. You know how tricky it can be to learn a new pitch, and how much easier it is to pick up if you've got a guy teaching you to throw out there with you while you experiment with it.

Cobb's split-change is a very unique grip/delivery/etc.

The Royals have benefited from this, too. Brandon Finnegan learned his awesome slider from Carlos Rodon while they were teammates on Team USA.
