Off Season Lets Talk Guns
Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.
Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon? Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware? Part 2: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=293623 Last edited by Bearcat; 07-28-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Most 16" AR15s (regular crome-lined barrel) will accurately reach out past 300, but the bullet loses a lot of energy. |

Hey everyone.
I'm such a n00b when it comes to guns, but I have a question. We had an incident the other day where a guy who had been stalking another member of our church and showed up at the facility the other day. Anyways, long story short...I called the cops because he had threatened us...and when the cops showed up, he went berzerk, wouldn't get out of the truck he was in, and ultimately was in a standoff with the cops that ended 2 hours later with a chase. He'll be in for awhile because of the chase and a few other warrants out, but he'll see the light of day again and I wouldn't be surprised if he came by again. It's got me thinking that it's time for me to get a gun. That's where you guys come in. What kind should I get? What kind of budget for a gun, accessories, and a safe (I have kids) am I looking at? |

Man that's a good looking gun. How does it shoot for you? I almost bought one a while back but haven't shot one. Long trigger pull?

The first 50rd were a dream. Everything cycled through perfectly and I honestly wasn't concerned with accuracy... just trying to break it in. The next 250rd were a damn nightmare. I had failure to ejects about twice per magazine. The problem was that the extractor spring was not properly tempered so it would bend causing the spent casing to remain in the barrel. I called KelTec and they sent me a new extractor spring. I go fire 50rd and the same damn thing happened. What I did was to take the old spring, and the new, and double them up. Went and shot and everything worked perfectly through 50rd and then the firing pin shot out the back. The extractor springs are held down by a screw which also locks the firing pin in place. When I doubled the springs, the stock screw was not long enough. I purchased a screw that is 1/8th of an inch longer and have since fired 350rd flawlessly. The trigger pull is long but I learned, from watching a Nut'n'Fancy video, to stage the trigger. Previously, the long trigger would cause me to push my shots to the right. Using the staging method from the video, I can now hit 9's and 10's with no problem at 10 yards... which is as far as I can possibly see me ever having to take a shot. Hate keltecs, one I had misfired and failed to eject at every clip regardless of ammo type. What's the point of owning a weapon that doesn't op correctly from new itb? Stiff is one thing flat out failures are another.
