That doesn't really seem mystifying to me... Morrow was below replacement the last 2 seasons. For Anderson, 2 of his last 3 seasons had a FIP under 3

Anderson hasn't pitched 45 innings once in any of the past 3 seasons. $250,000 an inning seems excessive for a starting pitcher.

$10MM is high, but they are ranked appropriately for 2015. There's a decent-sized gap between the 2 pitchers.

Sure, but he, like Anderson, had a weird assortment of random injuries that drove down his performance (tendon sheath in finger, calf, and a forearm strain). Anderson was also pretty awful in 2013. Morrow was also excellent just two seasons ago, while you have to go all the way back to 2010 to find a strong season with more than 100 IP for Anderson.

Rosenthal is unsure of the final terms and thinks it might be more than a $2.5 million base, but we'll see. Still seems off to me. And I'd much rather have Morrow at $2.5 than Anderson at $10, especially considering Morrow's upside is that of a No. 1 starter.

Pitchers busted him inside all last year and unlike prior years, he didn't mash those. Maybe the thumb was the cause. Lets hope

Saw something earlier in which Rios said the ankle injury hampered his ability to turn on inside pitches (and kept aggravating the thumb injury).

well it could be quite the bargain if the injury is "real" and not just an excuse for another nice contract for a name player that no longer has much ability!
