While awful that Pinkel has to deal with is, if he is going to leave this is a relatively good time, as he is close to the top of his powers and the program hasn't decayed significantly, as often happens with other long-time coaches near the end of their tenure.

Pinkel was a good coach, but just because he's leaving we don't have to pretend that his record was better than it was. Mizzou was never going to be any better than it has been over the last five or so years with Pinkel there.

He rebuilt the program from the ashes. Now, if they can hire the right candidate, there is a reasonable chance that the program can actually improve, not slide back.

Get well, GP, and enjoy your grandkids.

Yes. What concerns me is that he decided to retired after the PET in October.While speculation to me, that indicates that he is likely still battling elements of the disease.

I was not a huge fan of Pinkel. Great recruiter...above average Coach on game day. I was and have been ready for a change but this is not the reason I would have liked to see him go. Best of luck to him and his family and he picked a great time to get out of what is fastly becoming a shithole.
